DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Maybe they will put a rizer card on the pcb to have enough space for the VRAM :D

In the test of anandtech they write: „RTX 8000 is equipped with a full 48GB of VRAM (24 chips in a clamshell configuration)“.
It looks like there be 12 chips with 2Gb on both sides (back and front)

I hope the top consumer card comes with 16GB of GDDR6 then, since they've doubled the memory density from the chips they used for Pascal. Anyway, didn't mean to digress from topic.

So... Has anyone ever had their Dan case in the oven? xD

uh...is this going to be a thing now? i'll do this when my build is finished next week haha

oven for scale

There are applications that make my dan case be as hot as an oven. Does that count? :D

For shipping damages contact the shop where you bought the case and for a production damage follow these steps:

OK, I submitted the RMA report.

I have one more quick question. The SATA ports on my Gigabyte z170n are blocked by the PSU. Is there a SATA connector/cable on the market that will fit in this space? I need access to 1 more port in addition to the 2 on the top of the board. THANKS.

are you currently using right-angled sata connectors? it looks like you miiiight just be able to squeeze one in there, may be a tight fit, though

Yeah, u got those angled ones too, that one may fit, although what Tenrose said, will be a very tight fit.

Looks like the next gen RTX cards are gonna be triple fan for the Ti... I think ill still opt for the asus turbo which is a blower style 2080 Ti

Isn't an open air cooler with heatsink fins perpendicular to the card like the evga 1080 and 1080ti models preferred?
The air is forced by the card fans over the heatsink and it goes to the bottom and top of the case where it can escape due to the holes the case has.
If you install a bottom 92mm fan to force positive pressure on the case, I am pretty sure most hot air would exit the case trough the top.

Why do you prefer blower cards in the A4?

Fitment.. Seriously its an astetics thing with me I want decent cable management and not a bitch of a card thats triple fan, which is hard to manage in a space like our A4's I have a Windforce G1 980 in there now (looking to sell!!) and it barely fits.. Why would I want that in a fresh smallpact form factor build? Ill take a smaller footprint over the best thermals possible any day.

2700x gets to 90C on a Cinebench while water cooled. Gets me a 1866 score but im not complaining because it idles at 38C

Temps for a GPU are my least concern.

no kidding.

what i was hoping for is that dondan has encountered this before and knows a specific brand of cable that fits here. my angled connectors are a mill too wide.

I would try using those:
https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B072M12WBV/

got them for my build - I didn't have the same issue, but I wanted to have some extremely flexible ones, so they might actually do the job for you. I think the right-angled connectors might be bigger than those (just bend the cable, as said, they are extremely flexible). Can't tell for sure if they would fit for you, but I'd say, it's worth a shot.

If aesthetics is your goal, the Founders Edition RTXs look cleaner than the OEM designs, IMO. They're also smaller: 10.5" long, vs. 11"+ for many of the others.

Can anyone say if the RTX 2080 will fit in the A4? I cannot find the details, but it seems pretty small. I imagine it's a dual slot card.

The founders edition will. Even the Ti. Went ahead and pre-ordered the Ti.

Length:

10.5” (266.74mm)

2-Slot

Height: 115.7mm

Will any of the 2.75-slot designs of the 2080 or 2080 ti fit in? I know the question is most likely silly, but I just want to make sure there is simply no room for those kinds of boards to fit in. Thank you.

I'm truly sorry for asking, because I know the extend to which this question has been asked, but I'm greatly considering pouring more money at dondan, and upgrading from my v1 to a v3, but I just want to know: Can I get one with those fancy window sidepanels?

Will the Gigabyte RTX 2080 Ti GAMING OC 11G fit in? It appears to be a 2-slot version, but looking at the product photos, the fan housing appears to be slightly over the 2-slot width (but I don't know by how much, because Gigabyte does not list the card's dimensions. Would a three-fan setup be able to cool the GPU more quietly than a 2-fan setup, like, for instance the one found on EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC GAMING? Any answers you may have are very much appreciated. Thank you very much.

About that, dondan where can we buy the new feet? i'm waiting for them for a while now.

Are you still waiting for feet? I recently contacted Dan through his site and he sent me 4 rubber feet for free. Installed them yesterday and now the case wont budge when pushing it :D

Anyone know of a USB 3.1 gen2 front panel USB-C port that will fit the A4 to replace the USB-A port?

Sorry, no, these won't fit in the A4. Dan's in-progress C4-SFX does have accommodations for 2.5-slot cards, however.

Hard to tell, but if I had to guess from eyeballing the photos: no. I have a Gigabyte 10-series card, with a similar plastic shroud, but it doesn't extend nearly as much as the 2080 Ti GAMING appears to.

Dan's cable is a custom design, so you won't find a drop-in replacement unless he chooses to source one. Last I heard, he does not intend to at this time.

I don't have a USB 3.1 header on my mobo, but have considered trying to mod one of these cables into my A4. Similarly, you could try the same with this one which supplies Gen2 speeds but only fits specific ASUS motherboards.

Got Windows installed on my new build last night (finally). No GPU yet but I performed a Prime95 stress on the CPU:

i7 7700K 4.2GHz
Cryorig C7 w/ 120mm Noctua 15mm
97C (yikes)

Underclocked the CPU to a measly 4.0GHz and it now sits at 80C under maximum load. A delid should get me a bit more performance but overall I'm happy with those results. Will have to retest once I've got a GPU in the machine.

A fan shroud between the Noctua and the side panel will help with the temps. In lieu of a 3D-printed part, makeshift 'flaps' around the edge of the fan can easily be fashioned with gaffer's tape.

this is interesting. i'll give this a whirl this evening and will report back

luckily i've got a friend at work who has a 3d printer, so if you know any free designs for a shroud/funnel for this then i'd appreciate a link if you will
