It's not silly, and not to be underestimated. It quite depends on your living environment. In Holland I could've lived without and clean once in a while. Currently I live in Shanghai, and cities like this are very dusty.

My current Ncase M1 I'm very glad with my filters, the amount of dust buildup on the intakes is considerable. Its easy to clean and the internal space remains clean.
I prefer my temps rising by blockage of dust buildup vs. all that dust flying into the case and settling on all the components.

No filtering is my main holdup to get an A4, and keeping an eye on the C4 how/if it will be a feature.
Demciflex on the outside is not a solution for me. At a minimum mounted on the inside.

I received the A4-SFX V2 awhile ago and it's just been sitting in the box it came in. I've only opened it up once to marvel at the engineering and size of it, but current financial obligations keep me from utilizing it in a build for the time being. If anyone located in the US who missed out on the V2 is looking for one, please send me a message (only looking to make back what I pledged for it on Kickstarter which is €251.00). I apologize if this is the wrong place for this, I can edit my post immediately if that's the case.

You should try a smaller fan. The omptimun size is a fan with the same dimentions as the heatsink. If not, the hot air keeps trapped inside of the heatsink.
Trust me i have tryed many solutions.

that is true. the fan hub blocks too much of the heatsink.

Here ...we were talking about the fan under mobo,
...are you talking about the 120 on the cooler?

I would gladly change it if I had any advantages, belive me!
I tried the 92mm noctua 2.5w, and it sucks.
    At 99.99% I'm wrong:
The noise it emits is similar to a flock of crazed birds,
I work on a project from Sunday with 120, and the noisiest thing is definitely the GPU,
but when Wednesday morning I mounted the 92 "premium" the GPU has disappeared, dominated by fan noise!
But I would have borne, if not that with 120: I turn it on and are at 30/35 degrees, then settles on 40, while work travels between 50 and 60/65, does not touch 70 degrees ...
With the 92... I started at 40, I opened the project and while a flock of birds screamed from the case I saw that it was rising above 75 ...
So I can only thank you for your advice, I've also tried, but I'm incapable!
I leave a 0.1% to the fact that I have a different cooler, a different cpu, a different mobo, different ram,
different cable routing, longitude and different latitude, different desk, different ears, etc etc etc
... but I do it only for my self-esteem, just not to say that 100%
    I am wrong! :jimlad:

    Nice work Mat, clean.
I like how you rotated the cables, and even the cage you created for the fan is really well done!
You can not rotate the Astek cpu attack and run the tubes under the rams ...true?
In that case you could close the case, but I think you've already tried, otherwise you would have done it for sure!

Currently for me one of the most beautiful builds. Very cool shots. I love that gray/white/black style.

There is a great care of the details!
The 92 above the rad is painted in black!
He also covered the various pieces of the motherboard, really good!
The cables were sleeved by themselves, and even if they are very large in diameter, they circulated them very wisely!
The only drawback must absolutely close the case, others on his platform have succeeded I believe,
perhaps with different ram, or maybe just turning the asetek?
For me it's really well done, it relaxes me watching it !!! (y)

Thanks a WHOLE lot everybody! Will certainly take your feedback into account! And no... I can't close my sidepanel on the CPU side... Would be possible with one of those windowed sidepanels tho, since they add a comfortable extra 15mm of clearance ;)

    Will this included in v3?

And will this included in v3?

    Please include both!

As an owner of v2, and just speaking personally here, I can't justify buying v3 without one or both of these changes.

For me, it'd be ideal if both the above changes were included, but if I had to pick just one of the two... then I'd prefer a 92mm fan bracket above the mobo / GPU.

dondan, you've definitely got my money (again) if both these changes are included in v3.

Has anyone measured the remaining clearance from the cooler to side panel if your cooler is truly 48mm tall? If so, what is it? I skimmed the whole thread and didn’t notice this (but hey, tons of really helpful info for someone planning a build on the upcoming V3’s.)

Anyone using a samsung nvme on the back of their z370-i strix? Temps and how bad is it throttling?

I'm using a 960 Evo on the back of my Z270-I as my OS drive.
Because the strix cannot adress two sata-m.2 ssds I had to use one nvme. The slot in the back does not take sata drives so the 960 evo had to go there...
Honestly I do not need the nvme speed so I never saw it throttling because of too much/long load.
Temps while gaming were about 65-70C max, so however still within specs.
Never had any problems since my build in Feb '17.

What are the consenquences if I choose to use a G.skill Trident Z over an lpx ram other than the cpu cooler? Would love the HyperX fury but it's just at 2400 and I'm afraid I might get unlcuky with the ram and not be ablec to oc it to 3200. I'm not into the vengeance I don't like it it's aesthetics.

And is the sf 450 enough for i5 8600k and 1060 6gb? Will start my build this week finally. Thanks :D

No real consequences. You will have a hard time using an AIO, that’s about it. Maybe some of the less popular coolers might not fit, but, the best ones will fit still. And yeah that SF450 will be fine unless you’re somehow jamming a lot more hardware in that box than anyone else around here has.

I think this is from the Front USB?

What is the best fin orientation for the L9i with fan duct and Case fan above the mainboard and drive cage? Would it be better with or without IO shield?

Yes, it is too big, you should try a smaller one. I hardly recommend you the thermalright ty-100, it is the one that performs better. You can buy it sending thermalright an email.

    Thanks a lot pedrofan (y)
at the moment my research phase is suspended,
I find myself very well with the 120, indeed,
I feel so good that I'm thinking of changing GPU,
take a longer and quieter one,
and then abandon the possibility of turning it into AIO to push me further

Since Intel just announced the remaining Coffee lake skus will the 8600 run much cooler over it's k brother or there will be not much of a difference? Should I rather go with an 8500? Gonna use it with a Window panel and Cryorig C7 cooler. Thanks :D

What will perform better in the v2, Noctua l9i with fan duct or Cooltek lp53 with 2.5w a9x14 with fan duct? And how many degrees?

I haven't been paying attention much lately but, the "old" (v1) common wisdom was the LP53+the slim A9 90mm Noctua fan was the best and most available combo. Ducting improves either one I believe. There are a ton of posts in this thread showing temps on all these various setups.

No, not yet, for the custom cables I'll need several days to dismantle all the components, measure everything, make/cut/sleeve the cables, test the new cables and then reinstall everything in the case. This is too valuable "game time" that I'd rather spent gaming now I'll see what the future brings
