DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Look what came in the mail today!

2M standoffs, so now I can try to use these instead of the alulminium rods to position the Noctua 40mm fan above the NVMe M.2 SSD to cool it

Can't wait to get home!

Damn, you really hate fat chicks!

Mind sharing how you skinned it?

Let me know how this works and where you ordered them from! Although I'm probably going to toss the 40mm fan because it's too damn loud.

Do any of the following cards not fit in the Dan A4 v2?

Or, which do fit?

I'm primarily interested in the Strix 1080, I think.
  • ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080, 8GB
  • ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme Edition, 8GB
  • ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP! Edition, 8GB
  • ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 Ti AMP! Edition, 8GB
  • ASUS Turbo GeForce GTX 1070, 8GB
  • ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 AMP! Core Edition, 8GB
  • ASUS ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1060 OC, 6GB
  • ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 AMP! Edition, 6GB
It seems like the measurements given online are too close to make a call - so... better, I thought, for someone to confirm that they do / don't fit, based on their real-world experience.

Probably none of the AMP versions will fit as I believe they are 2.5 slots wide.

I can tell you all of the EVGA cards fit, even the Kingpin with low profile pcie connectors.

I just pressed it firmly, I need to use a whole lot of force to detach it again, it's not going to move anywhere...

Do you also have the Noctua 40mm? I can only hear mine when it spins at 5000RPM, but that's only when running synthetic SSD benchmarks...

Yep I have the exact same fan. Seems like mine is always at 5k rpm lol

Because EVGA cards are 2slot-ones with good cooling Solution!

To fit the EVGA 1080ti ftw3 into the case - you have to Open some screws of the case, but it fits!

Yea that's the same with the kingpin model. The FTW3 and Kingpin are the largest cards you can fit.

I got the FTW3 in without removing any case screws, just unscrewed the riser, popped it on the card, then put the card into position and screwed down the riser. After doing it and routing cables, I want nothing to do with the Kingpin card.

I absolutely needed to remove case screws but I'm also running the AIO so I didn't have much room to do anything.

Ugh I got confused tracking reported "Thu, 22.02.18 11:09 Philippines The shipment could not be delivered. The shipment will be readdressed and forwarded to the recipient." Anyone got the same message? Thanks

Is the window kit purchasable from anywhere? The AIO tubes fit quite poorly with the metallic panels and the window kit has some more space it seems. Is there any other options for this problem?

dondan We all know you're busy and we all know you're getting questions via a gazillion channels. But these 2 questions have been asked a couple of times and it's easy to miss them.

Could you please take the time to think about these 2 questions and just provide any sort of feedback? If you don't like the idea, a simple "no" is sufficient, but not answering them at all is a bit "I don't care about the community".

1) Would it be possible to share the 3D drawing (in any format) for the acrylic glass part of the Window Kit? So not the Aluminium part of the Window Kit, but the acrylic glass part with the DAN logo cutout. Enthusiasts can then use this drawing to design their own acrylic glass, I'm thinking about designing a version with a cutout for the Asetek 545LC tubes.

2) Are you planning to provide the new updated front USB connection/cable system that is compatible with the Asetek 545LC from version 3? Since version 2 was announced not so long after version 2 this would "be nice" to v2 owners and not force them to buy v 3 just for the USB cable...

I think a missed opportunity is to be able to mount 2 2.5" drives in the front. It would fit if you turn them 90 degrees. Obviously would need some kind super flat sata riser cable (something like Apple use in their mac minis). I could probably drill some holes if I could get hold of such a cable. For the most parts, it's not really that neccesary, but.. :)

Is there a brand of RAM / Memory which is going to be more compatible with the LP53 cooler?

Some of these RAM kits I'm looking at seem rather big and chunky... so, which kits are on the "small side" and therefore going to fit alongside the LP53?

Alternatively, are there any brands / kits that will not fit next to the LP53?

Do you really need more 2,5 hdd?
2,5 HDD via USB, or SSD inside a USB external enclosure (10€)
No sata cable - No power cable - No dremmel or whatever...just USB and all the external 2,5 you deserve! :)

HDD are loud even in idle. I have tried few and constant spining noise was very annoying. Now MOBO around CPU or CPU is most annoying thing but i limit CPU feq (by power plan) for web browsing and now whole pc is dead silence. It is because Dan case is build from thin panels so sould escapse easly . In my opinion is better to go with SSD even if SSD its not hi end ssd. Im using as secondary drive for storage Goodram Iridium Pro (MLC) and it has good TBW so even for storage it should be fine for long time.

ebay, Alibaba, look on google. you can add a usb3-c if you want to mod one in.

If you have a link to the new version that fits with the AIO that'd be great.

A lof of SFF enthusiasts like myself travel with their rigs so your solution is far from ideal. I want it all contained inside the case. So far the second SSD sitting on top of the riser in my case hasn't overheated and is working awesome. I'd too love to get 2 in the front of the case but we'd have to have some crazy power connectors too.

I think he meant to say SSD not HDD

im sure my google works just as good as your google....
I don't even know what you mean by that either.

A little sassy today?

People are asking specifically for the cable Dan is talking about in V3 and you claim to know what that exact cable is. Others have tried finding it and couldn't.

AIO = all in one. That's the major change for V3. It's a slimmer cable that fits with the all in one installed in the A4.

yes a little sassy due to people needing hand holds everywhere ive turned today. nothing personal.
you guys are trying to jam anything and everything in to such a tiny case and need to be prepaired for limitations and doing some custom work to get things the way you want. I also don't see exactly what the issue is. is it the front panel connector is too big and is in it blocks the rad or is the mobo header and issue? is the cable to fat to go around the rad? ive gone back and looked and don't see what the actual problem is.

Each of us knows what he needs! ;)
For example, a well balanced rig for editing/grading needs 3 "disks":
1: OS & APPs / 2: Material & Project / 3: Cache & Others Stuffs
So, in this case, you need 3 "disks", the first and the third can be "small", the second the better is the largest possible.
Sincerely I have no idea what needs are in a Rig from Enthusiast Gaming,
I believed that a system M2 and a nice SSD could be enough, but apparently not!
However, talking about a "third missing disk", how much is a ssd inside the build and how much external in usb 3?
This is not contained inside, but you can carry it with easy

You don't even know what he means but you're asking him to google it?

Dan has even mentioned in the past the V1/V2 cable isn't for sale on the web. So what google machine are you using?

pendragon1 At first I thought you were involved in the creation of the A4-SFX, but reading your posts I don't believe that's the case (no pun intended).

Let me try to explain what is going on with the front USB connector in the A4-SFX v2 and v3.

The v1 wasn't compatible with the Asetek 545LC watercooling system, it had no vent holes in the bottom of the case. Since this is the only available 92mm radiator AIO solution, dondan made changes in v2 so that we could install this AIO. Official information (like in the manual) states that the front USB connector needs to be removed. The connector itself is too big, and will not fit when the Asetek545LC is installed. A little while later dondan came out with v3 of the case, which had an updated USB cable that is compatible with the Asetek 545LC.

So people payed good money for v2 of the case, to find out that the front connector is unusable. That is why people are asking for it - instead of buying a whole new case just to use the front USB connector, people are asking for just the updated part of the USB mounting system.

dondan stated a while ago that the USB cable is not freely available from any manufacturer. The retention mechanism is something dondan invented, it's not a standard, there is no other internal USB cable that will fit, so searching Google for it will render 0 results. We need the updated USB cable if we want to have a USB connection in the front together with the Asetek 545LC.

I hope you understand a little better now and can understand why an answer like "google your stuff" is not applicable here.

no not part of the team at all, trying to offer help.
that is the info I was looking for, the rad is in the way. so it need a low profile/slim usb header cable. if you want the one he designed the you will have to order from him. if you want to be [H]ard you can do it with parts you can find on the google.

Hi all, first post. I am very happy with my A4-SFX v2 case. I also have the window panels, which are perfect because they allow me to use a 51mm CPU cooler with the fan underneath between the CPU and aluminum fins. However, this does not push out the hot air as effectively as I hoped. In fact, I think the hot air gets trapped with the limited ventilation on the acrylic glass panel.

Reading above, I've seen requests for the 3D obj file on the panel. If you had this file and customized your own panel, where would you go to get it made? Are there sites that laser cut acrylic glass from 3D files? If so, I will take a stab at sending my own design based on the dimensions from my own measurements.

pendragon1 ...but reading your posts I don't believe that's the case (no pun intended).
:ROFLMAO:
I have not decided what I'll do with the hole yet!
I'd like to test the asetek..but ..damn...doesn't fit x299, bought used and have no accessories!(n)

That is what I understood too, you're trying to help, but just posting "google your shit" without knowing the background doesn't fall well with most of the people... :)
