Thanks! Coming from a sg13 the temps are actually better. Under heaven the 1080 is at 65c. And it's quieter.

Thise cables from PSU look quite messy even with modular psu, so maybe a custom cables can help it.
Question: is there a chance, that you could fit a slim fan on the top above the motherboard? Is there enough space for it?

I plan on doing custom, but I was just trying to get the build together. As for a fan I don't think a fan will fit. The space is very limited and the riser card touches the top of the case with its bend. And I wouldnt recommend bending it more. My temps for CPU is 49c on heaven. But I'm rocking a 6500.

I can certainly see the appeal of custom short cables for the PSU now, but that is a whole new adventure of which I know absolutely nothing.
Stress tests normalised around 79 C for CPU and the short test for GPU around 65 C, but take that one with a grain of salt.
For more real life situations I'm about to fire up some VR fun with Vive and Battlefield 1 - I'll make sure to note temperatures along the way if anyone should be interested.
The corsair cables are hard to deal with in original form.
IMO it's more then worth it to buy the tools/parts to shorten them. They come out much better.

Fan is just 15mm thick, so if you atach a small metal cover (for example http://www.gratingpacific.com/images/round-hole-patterns-img1.gif ) on it, then riser cable could touch it so you could bent it a little more. All its needed is a gap of at lest 20mm to fix a fan to the top.
But its just my thinking. I dont have the case yet so i will see when i get it.
Nice build! Did you have any trouble fitting that gtx1080 inside? I just ordered exactly this gpu and i was a little worried about dimensions.

That GPU temp is pretty high for an ACX cooler. I know EVGA keeps their fan profile to a minimum, but still disappointing nonetheless. I've got a 1070 ACX, hoping the lower power consumption and more aggressive (yet still largely inaudible) fan curve I set in afterburner keeps temps more in check.

as long as it doesn't thermal throttle no problems for me. Fans did not go over 40%
With fan set at 60% temps went up to 59 degrees running same test.

The 3m riser cable was made to bend. You can bemd it flat together. I'm going to do that and try fitting a fan there.

I have a few questions I hope someone can answer.
If not overclocking, is it worth going for the 7700 (65w) instead of a 7700K (91w)? The 7700K is still a higher base clock but considering the Cyrorig C7 is often the loudest part of the system, keeping the CPU cooler would help reduce the fan noise. Even with a GTX 1080, it would seem the 7700 would match it well and the benefits of the 7700K are outweighed by having lower CPU temperature under load.
On the GPU front, which model is the quietest GTX 1080. I was initially looking at the ZOTAC GTX 1080 AMP Extreme however it seems like this card won't fit. I want a GPU which doesn't spin fans at idle, and is relatively quiet under load. It seems like the ASUS Strix may be a good choice, but what other options are out there?

Funny enough it popped right in, zero hassle. I must admit that surprised me a bit, as it took some time to get it in the Ncase.
I would not worry at all Jonas Mellkvist.
40 minuttes of Arizona Sunshine with high supersampling = CPU 78 C, and GPU 71 C.
60 minuttes Battlefield 1 = CPU 80 C, and GPU 72 C.
Bear in mind this is with a very high room temperature.
The vast majority of heat seem to emanate from out the top at the back end of the case, i.e. approximatly over the CPU. Could be interessting to see if some sort of small fan could alleviate it in any way.

Get a GOOD ONE from mainframe customs, it's expensive though, but you won't regret...
That's the one that did work great for me after 3 (yes... three!!!) cheap ones from ebay...

How long is that? 150mm or so? That's about what I was thinking should be enough considering the 24pin plug is right next to the PSU, taking into account bending etc. But cable mod only goes down to 250mm and I'm not super excited about buying stuff to mod one cable...Wish there was a retail solution.

Brand new cases. But there will be also a V2 (more a 1.1) of the A4-SFX but only with tiny ajustments.

Not sure if it's something you're planning or not...but if you did the same thing with an ATX or MATX form factor as you did with the Dan A4 (SFX PSU, no 3.5 inch drives, hell skip the 2.5 inch drives even, since we have so many M2 slots board-mounted already these days), I'd be very very interested

I would recommend looking at camera bag packs instead of messenger bags. They can be more expensive but offer alot of padded protection. Also messenger style bags are more likely so swing or hit into objects if you are in a rush...

Agreed. Surely someone out there will whip up some short cables for less than the required tools will cost. Any suggestions for alternatives to cablemod that would make short ATX/EPS/PCIE cables for the Corsair SF450?
If one finds an appropriate camer-type bag let me know. There was an amazonbasics branded one on amazon at a very affordable price, but it's slightly too small.

The cable tie method is not very elegant.
You can use rubber fan screw and use the perforations on the side panel to mount the fan.

So I measured it and its 105mm x 80mm x 15mm. there is a retaining plate halfway across on the frame so that is the max measurements. I don't really think a fan above the mb will fit.
