I'm in Canda right now, and to access Spotify and Netflix as well as blackout free games I'm changing my DNS servers to tunlr. That being said, if you use it too much as a general DNS they block you for a while.

So I was thinking... why not have custom DNS rules at the router level based on certain ports etc? For example if Spotify loads up and sends a request the router processes utilizing a different DNS server. Is this possible? What's it called? Getting sick of changing it back and forward on each computer.

I change DNS servers for my Rokus at my firewall. I just redirect traffic to any IP on TCP and UDP port 53 from a list of IP addresses (list my Roku IPs in the list). If I want to disable the DNS redirect I just remove/add them to the group.

The proper way is to setup your own resolver that uses certain forward resolvers for certain zones (and optionally certain clients).
