Currently have a u2410 - would adding a u2412m be a big difference?

Hey guys,

I currently have a Dell u2410 as my main monitor but I'm looking to add a second. I can get a u2410 for 400 bucks from newegg/amazon but I was curious if the cheaper u2412m would be a dramatic difference?

i.e. would the colors be so different that it would be noticeable and annoying?

I'd love to not spend the extra 140 dollars if I don't necessarily need to, but I first want to make sure that having two white word docs on one screen and the other won't be so different in terms of color (just one example, not basing this decision on how word documents look )

The U2410 sucks compared to the 24" 16:10 monitors available now. If you are using anything but the sRGB mode everything you view will have inaccurate+over saturated colors since it is a wide gamut display.

Get an NEC EA244WMi, you will likely throw your U2410 out once you realize how grainy it is, how poor the black levels are and how inaccurate it has been making everything you view look. Text and whites will look far clearer on the NEC, but whites will always look different since matching monitors white points is nearly impossible, even with calibration.

The HP ZR2440w now has the same coating as the NEC (the original did not), but there is no way to guarantee getting a newer version.

The U2412 has the same grainy coating as the U2410, but better black levels, less input lag and better colors for consumer content since it covers the sRGB color space.

If you actually do need a wide gamut monitor for work the Asus PA249Q has LG's new light matte coating and is better than the U2410

I have been running in sRGB mode - I also don't have too many issues with the 2410 itself. Yeah, I'm sure there are better panels out there now, but I did drop a fair bit into it so I'd like to keep using it.
