I cant find them anywhere! neither chiefvalue nor newegg carries them anymore!

Any next best choices <$250?

yeah thats what i was looking at. I heard they are no longer D9s though....imma give buffalo a call and see what they can do. If they are indeed still D9s, thats the right ram :)

I wouldn't, sorry.
Elpida = not great for OCing.

Buffalo Firestix $241 (D9s)

I guess Patriot may have switched chips as well then?

I got mine late August. I am pretty sure mine are D9. As of now they seem to be doing very well.

I want to try 1000Mhz but I need to get 400x8 stable (my cpu is slightly unstable, failing a few hours in at stock voltage in dual prime stress tests, so I am playing around hopefully maybe a bios update, or maybe upping my PCI-e up a couple of Mhz will allow me to avoid having to up my VCore - which is the last resort, and then I have to find the lowest that will run at that speed, though it can't be much more then 1.325V)

crap, then what <$250 or so D9s are there?

Well you just missed them. The Crucial 10th Anniversary addition set were D9's. Newegg & ChiefValue had them recently for $229-$249, depending on what time of day or day of the week it was. Gone now... :(

Oh...sorry...I just realized that you're the OP & you already knew about these.

crucial took it off of their own site as well. I guess it was a real special limited edition ram. I was so close to buying it, now I gotta start over again.

THose are NOT D9's. I called Buffalo. They used to have a set of PC2-6400 cas4 that were D9's. These sticks are cas 5.

These Buffalo's are D9's:

Notice the price difference!

Really?

Why then does everyone except yourself claim these are D9s, including users with them here.

I know the ones on newegg are the C revision not the original B revision, but the belief is that the older B = D9GXK & the newer C = D9GMH

Considering another glowing OCing report was just posted in the newegg reviews for the Firestix two days ago, i'd be inclined to believe they are still D9s, as you don't get DDR2-1050 with Promos or Elpida.

BTW, since you say you talked to Buffalo, what IC are they using anyway, if not D9s?

looks like the c revision might be gmbh's. not sure though. and i can't say when i get them since i dont think i'll be voiding my warranty quite so quickly. but i did bite and place the order tonight. It's going to suck though since I won't have a good motherboard to drive them for quite some time, and am really hoping that they'll work with whatever 945g board i end up getting for the time being.

So glad I pulled the trigger on building my system last Tuesday night and got the Crucial 10th, cause when I checked Wednesday morning it was out of stock - maybe I got the last ones :D Had a feeling they might be running low when I saw the price jump $10.

Haven't had time to memtest at high speeds yet, but booted fine at 1100Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.2v on 680i.

I got my reply back from Buffalo.

Hello n7
The D2C FireStix currently use the 667MHz (3ns) Micron. True 800MHz (2.5ns) chips would be in the $500+ range for a pair of 1GB modules.

Thank you,
Buffalo Technology USA

And there you have it guys.

I asked him what chips the D2C kit uses vs. the older D2B, & that's one of their techs response.

So as suspected, the newer kits use D9GMH B6-3.

http://ramlist.ath.cx/micron
That list shows the types of Micron D9s previously & currently made.

Therefore, IMHO, the 2x1 GB DDR2-800 Firestix kit is indeed basically the best deal out there for cheaper OCing RAM right now:
