The 494k has the least amount of glow I have ever seen on any ips. They are flicker free (Samsung is not), hdmi 2.0 and dp. It has freesync and the input lag doesn't feel too far off from my asus vg23ah (read ncx review on it). Without a doubt these are better than a TV, I chose this over one of those Samsung tvs. Oh and colors are amazing. At this point the only way I could be happier is if it had gsync (or amd made better cards)

" The 434k's main issue is its violet colour dominance "
What about that ? It's annoying ? Can you do some color / gamma / etc / settings, to get ride of this issue ??
Thank you

They already ran ncx out of there for talking about pwm lmao. I'm glad I was patient because I almost bit and I'm way happier with an actual monitor. If amd had better cards then I would get 2 because I really want to try out freesync (especially now that you can lower the range)

Hmm I was hoping for an actual source, re-reading the thread again in case it has some way of figuring out IF you have PWM, not sure what the photos were you linked though. However the part about Eco etc is nice to know IF it does. I keep my Backlight @ near max to max anyways. I had no idea my X-stars had PWM so possibly my eyes don't notice or I just have it @ the correct lighting.

As for Freesync, Nvidia supports it as well (according to them from last year anyways )

I'm going to test a few monitors from Fry's today as well as the 21:9 models. I wish there was a 1440p display larger than 32" @ 120hz.

I believe the person reporting that had a defective panel, as many owners that I've questioned don't have it.

Ncx maybe this is worth trying out and adding to the freesync section. I haven't tried yet because I don't have amd cards either but I think it would be great for the guide.

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1872620&highlight=

I already included this in the Free-Sync section.

Mine works perfectly with two different DP cables and gpu's.

Why cherry pick the negatives and ignore the part about how easily the colours can be improved? All displays suffer from a preset colour dominance, but most reviewers focus on the calibrated image quality even though the majority of reviewers audiences do not calibrate their displays. Using a someone else's settings ≠ calibration.

Those are images of the Pwm. It's not hard to test for, those Samsung monitors are proven to have Pwm no other way around it.

The Wasabi Mango has a issue which I assume the Crossover has too considering it's the same panel. :(

http://www.overclock.net/t/1554580/...s-monitor-what-tests-to-run/780#post_24326117
Can you please clarify what you refer to as an "issue".
There is flickering affecting some (not all) Crossover 434/494 owners, but I am not aware of anything special with Wasabi.
Do you refer to the parallax effect when sitting close to the center of the monitor, if so, this is the way these panels are designed by LG, not an issue.

The 434K's shadow effect (edges of the panel lost to or cut off by a transparent black shadow) is barely visible from 80-110cm away, and is very visible when viewed from less than 80cm away. I cover it and provide examples in the Viewing Angle section of my review.

READ THE REVIEW. There's 2 different chipsets. Realtek and mstar, the newer being the one ncx reviewed. I have the older chipset in my 494k unfortunately but I'm gonna check w/ green-sum if they can get me a newer board

I wanted to order this monitor but i changed my mind after i've got an email, they said that the warranty is only 1 year
I'm not going to pay 850 euro and warranty only 1 year.

You can always get a square trade warranty. In my opinion you can't do better than these monitors right now if your looking for a big ips 4k monitor.

Edit: meant CANT do better

I'll buy the 434K Crossover when someone publically posts the Freesync firmware. Otherwise I just consider this another "nice" 4K monitor but not a real Freesync monitor.

I mean email someone in Korea, hope Google translate sends a message that makes sense, and hope they send you the firmware? lmao. Not gonna happen. Hell these Korean ebay sellers take like 2 weeks to respond to an email, if even. Buying this is too much of a gamble right now.

Seems like LG 43UF6807/43UF6907 and 49UF6807/49UF6907 TV-s use same IPS panel. Can somebody confirm that?

It clearly shows that you had no experience dealing with these panels sellers whatsoever.

Good luck on your quest.

I got my 434K a few weeks ago from green-sum. Arrived in 2 days. Ordered "pixel perfect, got pixel perfect. Came with the Freesync firmware installed.

Wrong on all accounts. The firmware for 434k freesync can be downloaded on crossovers website. The sellers on eBay speak English and respond within a day. All monitors shipped by these eBay sellers are sent 2 day express. Received my 494k in 2 days

has a 20ms delay which is not a affected by the Bypass and Response Time
That's interesting, I thought overdrive typically adds to input lag. I guess the ~1 frame of lag is always present whether overdrive is applied based on the previous frame or not.

Has anyone played with the PBP functionality? I'm sort of envisioning buying one of these to place to the right of my LG 43" with the same panel. Then hooking up 3 inputs:
1. DP or HDMI 2.0 at 1920x2160 on the left, additional desktop space contiguous with the center screen.
2. HDMI 2.0 or DP at 1920x1080 on the upper or lower right, displaying output from another computer
3. DVI 1920x1080 on the upper or lower right, displaying output from another computer

Any issues configuring the above? Is the PBP flaky/glitchy or is it rock solid? Any idea if it adds any input lag?

Dude you talk so fast, slow down! I appreciate you covering a whole shitload of information in a brief video... but when you keep throwing in model numbers and technical phrases it sounds like "zzzap 1144kkk mediocre sss zzap" all in monotone. maybe it's just me and I need to figure out how to slow the video down to .75 or something...

You're absolutely right, but it's so comical, I don't really want him to change his style.

Use Firefox plugin "Download YouTube Videos as MP4", download from youtube, and playback with VLC using the speed adjuster.

So which monitor is better out of the 434k and the WM UHD420 for gaming and image quality?

There are no decent Wasabi Mango reviews yet, and there likely never will be unless TFT Central gets one.

pcper's reviews are awful, I wouldn't even consider them to be actual reviews, they are more like basic overviews. Comparing the information from TFTCentral vs pcper and it's easy to see which one is a real review.

I have the option of returning my samsung JS9000 65" at the end of the month. Is this a worthwhile upgrade?

Probably NCX's fault - given his rigorous standards, the very fact he didn't recommend that the Crossover factory be burned down with all the staff still inside means that they know they have a decent product and can now gouge people for it :D

I built a sweet Crossover 434K setup and thought I'd share what I did.

This 42.5" 16:9 screen stands 22" tall. If you use the stand that comes with it, the top of the screen gets too high. By resting the screen on the table, with good posture your eyes are about 2/3rds up. The screen comes with a plastic IR redirector on the bottom right, and popping that off with a flat head makes the bottom surface nearly flat.

image.jpg

At 104 PPI, it's reasonable to sit a normal distance from the screen. Pushing it back a few feet would diminish the whole benefit of its size compared to a 27". Sitting closely also brings up a need to specially route the keyboard and mouse cables (unless of course you go wireless). So I took apart my keyboard and mouse, used my Dremel to cut different cable exit points from the plastic, and used some superglue. As you can see, the mouse cable shoots out the right side of my Logitech G302.

Side note: I bought the G302 mostly for its 1kHz polling rate, and secondarily for the high DPI. My old monitor had close to zero input lag, and I had been using a PS/2 mouse with a standard 95Hz polling. That's only 1 sample per 10ms! I didn't perceive any lag though. With the 434K and its 20ms lag, the extra amount from the mouse became significant. 1kHz polling is of course 1ms, so lag should be a consistent 20-21ms, far better than 20-30ms.

The VESA stand was only $37 shipped: the VEVO Single LCD Monitor (STAND-V001). It's made of extremely thick metal, comes with lots of hardware, and lets you tighten each joint as much as you want. I'm surprised it's only rated to hold 22 pounds, and maybe that's only if you fully extend all joints, but I didn't put that to the test since the screen rests on the table. Compared to the screen's included stand, the mount also gives you full flexibility on the screen's angle.

Next we have the VESA adapter plate that converts 75x75mm to 200x200mm. I went with the Parts Express Universal TV Mount for $14 shipped. The middle part of it is raised to allow the 75x75mm screws to not hit the back of the screen.

For the 434K's VESA holes, no fitting screws were included with anything. On each hole I used an M6 30mm screw, four 1/4" washers, and a plastic spacer that I think came with the VEVO stand. That stackup gives a small gap between the adapter and screen for clearance with the 75x75mm screws, and it also gives the perfect amount of threading distance for the 200x200mm screws to go in.

Finally, the mount to table interface. The c-clamp that comes with the VEVO has 2 huge bolts with a good amount of surface area, but I still wanted to better spread out the force against the wood table. So I added a steel plate that I bought for $1 from a hardware store's electrical department, which I guess is normally for conduit boxes.

A huge thanks goes to NCX for the top notch review that introduced me to this amazing screen!
