Looking to pickup an other intel board for some overclocking fun.

Im reading that all of the p35 chipset motherboards have one Pci-e x16, and one pci-e x4 but supports crossfire.

Whats the point of having this second slot, if its only 4x. What is the detriment to crossfire support for this second slot.

Is it even worth having crossfire on a board like this?

Also, what are you recommendations for a good overclocking board + good crossfire performance.

The p35 boards support it but it isnt to smart to try it. The X38 are supposed to be the all out performance boards of the 3-series chipsets.

The point of the second slot is for expansion like any other slot. Just because it supports Crossfire, doesnt meant it was designed for it, just another option for some crazy peripheral or something.

If you look at reviews that have looked into this there actually isn't a big performance loss at all with current gfx cards (remember that PCI-E x4 is basically the same as AGP x8 & we weren't pushing that interface either).

975X boards run the lanes at 8x (for each card) in CrossFire, which is shown to have a noticeable performance increase over one running at 4x. Also, clock-for-clock on the FSB, those boards perform better. The P35 clocks higher FSB-wise, but that's about where the advantages end.
