im thinking about upgrading my computer. it's currently 4 years old and getting real laggy n slow. i dont game or anything that requires intensive CPU power. i mostly use the desktop for storage, web browsing, music(important), and watching movies. i would hope with an upgrade, i would be able to watch HD movies n such without any lag and even hopefully play Diablo 3/SC2 on it in the future. but other than those things mentioned, i don't really do anything else on it. best case scenario is i can get let a HTPC type deal with the upgrade and ~$300. stuff not listed need for a comp. i already have like monitor and harddrives.

if you guys could make it any cheaper/better items, please do or if things are not compatible with each other etc.

total acutally is $370. i'd wish it to be around $300 before taxes.

Hm... howbout this...

$112 - COMBO: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz + ASUS M2R32-MVP 580X ($20MIR)
$100 - eVGA 512-P3-N863-TR GeForce 9600 GT 512MB ($20MIR)
$75 - Antec NSK4480 Black ATX Mid Tower w/ Earthwatts 380W
$26 - OCZ Gold 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 OCZ2G8002GK
===========
$313 + tax - possibly $40 in MIRs (all items have free shipping)

The 9600GT performs similarly to the HD3870, and the Antec PSU is better than the Thermaltake, by far. Cheaper RAM, and you should be able to OC that 5000+ to 6000+ speeds on the stock cooler.

+1 to this suggestion

I would even look at upgrading to 4GB b/c you get close to that 2 gig price after rebate.

So, can you send me the OCZ 4GB DDR2-800 2x2GB kit, model OCZ2G8004GK, and I'll send you $20 non-CC Paypal? :D

that looks good, ill probably go with those. ill be ordering from mwave cause i can just go pick it up so ill try to find the equivilant over there.

nm i cant even find the same items there so ill just order from newegg. one change tho, is it possible to change to a smaller case that will fit all the other items?

If you want a smaller case, you're gonna have to go with different parts:
AMD Athlon64 X2 5200+ CPU - $52
Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 AMD 740G mATX AMD Motherboard - $50
Kingston KVR800D2N5/2G 2GB DDR2 800 RAM - $20
XFX PVT96OSDFH 9600GSO 768MB PCI-E Video Card - $78
Silverstone SUGO SG01B-F Black mATX Case - $70
Corsair 400CX 400W PSU - $55
----
Total: $325 plus tax and shipping

The 9600GSO 768MB performs almost as fast as the 9600GT. The Sugo SG01 case is a pretty small case compared to the NSK4480.

Oh and do NOT go with that Apevia. The included PSU is absolute shit and will more than likely kill your system. In fact avoid using Apevia PSUs altogether:
Apevia ATX-AS500W-BL
Apevia Warlock Power 900W
XQPack's Included 420W PSU
Aspire Beast 680W Power Supply

But to answer your question: No that Apevia case will not fit Enginurd's parts since the mobo he chose is ATX whereas the Apevia case can only fit mATX.

ok thanks. im probably gonna go with enginurd's parts then. the shipping would kill me to go with a smaller case. is there anyone you can help find the equivalent parts to enginurd's build at mwave so i can pick up? i can find some of the parts but the mobo doesnt have exact matches.

EDIT: Heh, I didn't notice Danny's post earlier, thats how long it took me to type the previous reply, lol. Anyhow, if he's picking it up from mWave, isn't he in CA? or did they get (or always have) other warehouses in other states? lol.
