My Klipsh Promedia 5.1 finally bit the dust, so I decided to replace them with home audio amp and speakers. I use a X-fi sound card. I want the set up for gaming, movies, and music. I paid $840 for this setup and should receive it next week.

the speakers you picked should be fine at the ~$500 price point but at $400 the sub can be beat in power and accuracy while most likely not in size. both hsu and ed are on a short list in the budget market.

for ~$350 you can get an onkyo 605 with all of the curret codecs and enough power for the speakers you chose as well as lots of connections for what ever you need that sound to come from. yamaha though is know for there quality and not cutting corners for the most part.

if this is your first personal step into component audio you are going to smile a lot for some time now. its like getting the focus right on binoculars. have fun with your new set up.

sorry for the critic in me... just other option in the same budget.

Thanks for the comments. I only paid $180 for the sub. I'll look at those other brands.

wow... well for that much i wont argue. bic and onix are in the ~$200 but i don't know how they fair with each other.
