Wouldn't this topic be better suited for the audio section? I have no idea what the difference is...

DTS and CMSS don't really do the same thing.
CMSS is for 'virtual sound positioning' and DTS is a lossy 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound API. I know it sounds like they do similar things, but in execution they do very different things.
Technically it's feasable to use DTS and CMSS simultaneously, but to my knowledge Creative is the only company on the market that uses CMSS (since they own it) and the Auzentech X-plosion is the only card that supports DTS encoding. So right now there isn't a single card that supports both, of course someone could correct me on this.
