Ok, in the old days with Parallels if you wanted a VM with your current MacOS on it there was a specific menu option to do it automatically, and it would source the OS from the recovery partition on the Mac.

Apparantly not with Sierra and Parallels 12.

There is no standard menu item like in the past.

So... my Mac Book Pro 2016 runs on Sierra of course, but where the hell do I source Sierra (as an ISO or whatever) to use as the source when making the VM ?

You can download an ISO from the app store.
Open the App Store.
Go to the "Purchases" tab.
Select Download next to MacOS Sierra.

If it doesn't appear in your purchases. Simply use the search bar and search for MacOS Sierra. It will have a download link, provided it is linked to your account (which it should be).

The last time I downloaded the Sierra installer (for hackintosh purposes) Parallels automatically detected it and asked if I wanted to install. I've not had that particular need but everything else in Parallels is ridiculously easy to do.

Actually it's listed in the "free systems" bar on the bottom. Scroll all the way to the right.

None of that happened for me, but I was able to install it from the downloaded ISO.

For a VM, it's blazing fast !

Strange. Just checked my desktop at work as well. The option is also there.
