I just built my computer and i decided to install speed fan.Well i noticed my temps idle on my e8200 (with stock hsf) was about 38 which i dont know i think thats normal. But then under load both cores will be at 60 or above.I was just thinking maybe i did something wrong when installing the hsf.I'm not sure but I dont doubt i could have installed the hsf wrong. So hopefully someone can tell me what i might have done wrong.

by load, what is load? Are you stressing it with Prime95 and such? If so, that's normal temperatures. Give it some time for the thermal paste to cure. Also, if the temperature in your room is warm, then it can only be so cool. And always make sure you didn't apply too much thermal paste, because that can inhibit the efficiency of ther heatsink.

also are you sure you are reading the right temp sensor? Download Core temp and change T-Junction to 95 from 105.

Ok actually it gets hotter than that.I found out that the cpu was underclocked. So The temp now is getting to 72.But again idle is 38-40 room temp is about 22.So i am still kinda worried. And i didnt even put it under a stress test like prime 95.So I dont know i must have put the heatsink on wrong but isnt there really only one way to get it to lock to the mobo correctly?

even 72 is on the higher spectrum of acceptable range of load temps

38-40 is perfectly good for idle.

remember, you're using a stock HSF... if you are still worried, then buy an aftermarked HSF. problem solved.

sounds like the problem I had. What I did the 1st time around is buy some new thermal compound since the stock stuff didn't apply too well. Temps went down from there.
