Anyone heard of any news on CPU water blocks for Thread ripper? The CPU surface area IHS is so big it seems like any current water blocks wouldn't work.

nope but your point aboot size is valid. I'm sure someone is working on one.

Not to sure if that is what you should be worried about for that platform ;)

As much as this CPU is in demand already.... I am betting there will be a block made for it and ready before it releases.

With the size of that Heat Spreadder I woulnd't be surprised if the waterbloock is a Super Big Gulp from 7-11 with an attached slurpee machine to refrigerate the water on cycle. It's HUGE.

The cost for a 100% copper surface mated to a good aluminum transfer case will be massive. Same for the bigger tower style heat spreadders. My last cooler was 40 bucks for an inexpensive but alright one. I can see the minimum cost of entry to be 40 and decent to start at 80 for Air cooling 150+ for water... easy.

For 24/7/365 operation, the cost is essentially meaningless as down-time and/or throttling due to heat will easily outpace the cost of the equipment to cool it for stability.
