Counter Strike Source Issue

When I have the steam friends overlay turned on my game refuses to start, it says I have a bad .dll file but once I turn it off its fine. Is there a workaround for this so I can still access my friends?

Try defraging the game and deleting the local content, you might have to re-install the game.

its that new update that screwed everything. try disabling friends in-game (file>settings>in-game)close out of steam and then open it back up and re-enable friends . fixed it for me this morning.
