Could use some help with a hard drive

I have an WD Caviar Green SATA Hard Drive 2 TB and it has been working fine for years, but yesterday I could not access any files on the drive. The drive shows up fine and I can access folders within the drive but when i go to access a file the drive locks up and I can't access it.

I have tried to clone it but the cloning operation fails
 
Sounds like your drive may have developed Bad Sector's and that would explain the locking up when accessing a certain file.

Copy what you can, 1 file at a time or in batches, it'll be a painstaking process but may be your only option.

Then replace the drive.
