Corsair hx620: Use permanently connected 8-pin for video card?

I have a hx620 I've been using the normal 6pin+optional 2pin connected to te 6pin cable for my gtx 480. I was weonder if I could just use the 8 pin connector permanently connected to the PSU since its semi-modular. I could eliminate one cable since my mobo only used the 4-pin power cable.

EDIT: nvm the pins are different shapes so it wont fit in the video card anyways. Guess I gotta hide the 8 pin somewhere now...

Yeah, that should be plugged into your motherboard (assuming it is from the last 5 or so years). There should be the 20+4 ATX power plug (the big one) then a smaller port to plug in the EPS12v 8pin to provide more power.
