At CES 2014, California-based Corsair and Germany-based Cherry Corp. are debuting the “MX RGB Project” gaming keyboard. The technology showcase , based on a Vengeance K70 gaming keyboard fitted with new Cherry MX RGB keyswitches, gives gamers a first look at the vast customization and game enhancing benefits of per-key 16.8 million color backlighting.

In the second half of 2014, Corsair will bring the concept to life by launching the world’s first Cherry MX RGB-based gaming keyboards. The new keyboards promise to give gamers all of the precision, feel, and reliability of Cherry MX-based Corsair gaming keyboards enhanced with new personalization and gaming customization provided by nearly limitless per-key lighting combinations. The new keyboards will be available in several Cherry switch types: super-fast Cherry MX Red, the light tactile feedback of Cherry MX Brown, or the tactile and audible feedback provided by Cherry MX Blue.

Looks like someone took their design tips from Steelseries, not that I am complaining at all.

Don't the MSI gaming laptop keyboards also have something like this?

MSI gaming laptops use the Steelseries laptop gaming keyboard. Look in the pics and they'll all say "keyboard by steelseries" somewhere on them. They use a light version of Steelengine driver mostly for the LED management.

I have an MSI gaming laptop with the SteelSeries keyboard and I loved it... Would be awesome to have the same kind of thing for my newly build rig!

That looks amazing to me :). I think I might be willing to switch my keyboard layout preference just to get one.

I hope Cherry makes a tactile version of these. I'm not a fan of linear switches.

Pretty slick if you sit in the dark all day.

Aside from the nifty little buttons, the colors are meh.

Looking forward to this. Corsair will definitely be in the position to be the top of the market, since the competition (Ducky Shine) seems to have trouble meeting demand in the US.

A big fan of my k60, having the same with custom lighting would be okay in my book.

Looks cool, but if you already have a backlit mech you're happy with, its probably hard to get excited over some fancy backlighting. At least, I won't be trashing my K90 just to get this

Back in junior high we were still being taught how to type on typewriters (~1989). The teacher, Mr Bennett, was a notorious hardass who would walk around with a yardstick and would smack the top of your hands when he caught you looking at the keyboard. My hands would have been as red as a baboon's ass if I would have had one of these keyboards. So purdy!

Corsair makes some nice keyboards, but I HATE the big ugly Corsair logo plastered on them. /especially if the logo is lit in a glaring fashion.

Yeah, I wondered how vibrant it would be in a regularly lit room.

Also call me a snob (do it, I dare you!) but I'd like it better if there wasn't glow around the keys, and only on the letter/number.

I assume it has to be wired because of the mechanical nature and the lighting? Even so it is pretty sexy... I might have to break down and get one.

Then why the [F]uck are you still here?

Ahem.... anyway, I've been waiting for something like this for awhile. It looks like the LEDs are going to be individually addressable and with an RGB array underneath the color combination possibilities are endless.

I've been waiting for Ducky to announce something like this, but aside from a vague Youtube video someone posted a couple of years ago I've seen no indications. If these keyboards will be fully mechanical and somewhat competitively priced Corsair will have my money!

Finally a good keyboard is married to 100% customizable (and dynamic) back lighting.
