For those of you out there that own an Obsidian 800D that is more than a year old may want to consider a couple upgrades.

1) They now offer a new front panel kit that includes 2 USB 3 ports.

2) the SATA back plane in the original 800D's only supports SATA-2 (3gb/s).

I am currently using the back plane with 3 x 3TB Seagate Baracuda SATA3 drives. These are in raid using a LSI 9260-4i Raid Card which also supports SATA3.

You can see what I have going on... I didn't realize the back plane was only SATA2.

So, my Raid array is not running at its full potential.

For $10 you can upgrade the back plane in your 800D.
For $15 you can upgrade the front panel connector.

I stumbled upon this when I was looking at accessories for the 800D.

The way to tell if your 800D could benefit from these upgrades is by the front panel connector you have. If your's looks like the one I've linked you already have both of these in your case. If your front panel only has the black USB ports you have the SATA2 back plane.

Pretty Cheap upgrades.

My parts are on order, will report if I have any problems.
