"Corrupt File" Error message...

My computer (running Windows XP Pro) constantly gets the error message "The file or directory C:\WINDOWS is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility." What should I do? I thought it might be a virus, but scanning the computer came up with nothing...

boot off yr XP install CD and run the repair option

constantly gets the error

Corruption 101
hunt down the cause,
then run chkdsk /f to repair
(there is potential for some data loss, its going to lock out bad data that "might" be recoverable otherwise)
