Core i3 Sony Vaio | Cracked screen

A friend's dad bought this Sony Vaio VPCEB25FX/WI approximately six months ago from the Microsoft Store.
It worked great, until it fell off the counter and cracked the screen.

I've checked it out and it still powers on, but cant see anything due to the fact that the screen is severely damaged.

One corner has a little damage from the drop but doesn't like like anything broke but the screen.

have you connected to an external monitor to see its fully functional otherwise?
 
Just for a quick second when i tried to see if it worked and yes. It did post.
 
LOL I have this same exact computer with the broken screen. I think I'm going to try to fix the monitor though.
 
Ok, I hooked it up and it boots into the boot screen but gives me an error that states the hdd might be bad.
