Cord-Cutters Are Not All Young Hipsters

Cut the cable tv cord last year, even though our ota is limited here. It was a good decision. Still have to pay the cable company for internet though. Not willing to cut that!

I found this part of the article rather interesting...

The trend becomes evident upon examination of “churn rate” -- that is, the percentage of subscribers who cancel their cable or satellite service over a given period of time -- which is significantly higher among U.S. households making less than $20,000 a year.
WTF? If your household makes less than $20K/yr., how can you afford even basic cable in the first place? Between rent, food and other necessities, there wouldn't be much discretionary income left.

And when times are tight, it's the non-essentials that have to go first.

If you had to make a choice, which would you choose?

- Give up your high-speed internet and go back to 56K dial-up
or
- Give up your cable tv for OTA and online streaming

I think for most of us here it would be a no-brainer.
