I'm about to do a reinstall and am considering xp as an option. I've used 2k for years and *love* it. However, I use xp at work but feel like the interface is a bit clunky (gui philosophy, not the gui itself).

Considering my current familiarity with 2k and the performance benefits of 2k is there any reason why I should go with xp?

BTW, I am not interested in the following:

User Switching
Remote Desktop
ClearType (using a CRT)
Rollback/System Restore
Included crap utilities (movies, wizards, etc.)

I like:
Faster boot times
Slightly (?) better support for old games

If you have hesitations with the GUI; there are two things you can do.

1) Right click on the desktop; go to Properties. The Themes tab will be opened by default. Select "Windows Classic" from the drop down box.

2) Right click on the Start button on the bottom left. Select Properties and hit the radio button next to "Classic Start menu."

Those two things are the first things I do when I boot into any XP install.

I find XP has all that 2K has; and it is a tad more responsive; better driver support - and if you can upgrade to XP - do it cause you can.

2K and XP are similiar in many aspects.
