Connecting the AIW's power to the same cable as a HD

I want to get rid of the cables that are plainly visible in my case (even though I don't have any means of showing the inside w/out opening the case).

I read in my AIW manual, that I have to connect the card's power connector using the same one as used by a hard drive. Do I have to do that? Can't I use switch the hard drive for a fan (or two) for the sake of less visible cables?

Use any power connector that you wish. I prefer connectors with nothing else on them.
 
I notice better stability and such when using 1 set per device

eg. 1set for the vid card, 1 for the hard drive(s), 1 for the cd/dvd roms and 1 for all the fans
