Recently I bought a new video card (6600gt 128mb) and added another stick of 512 memory (mushkin). Recently i have been playing world of warcraft while on ventrilo and while playing i will get major lag on WoW then my computer will freeze and no longer able to push to talk on vent then my speakers start to get this poping sound.

Before this had happened i got a message saying my video card wasnt getting enough power (running 550 antec) so i took my computer apart and unplugged my CD-Rom i hardly use, reconnected my fans and made one power cable alone just for my video card. Now since then i havnt gotten the message but now i am getting these random lock-ups, they usually happen 3-4 times a day. Today its only happened once but yesterday it happened 4 times.

What can this problem be?

Was just listening to my computer as it did it again and a noise came from my computer, seemed like my hard drive, making a clicking sound, just one click though and then the computer locked up.

Could this be a bad hard drive?

Well...you did mix ram. Rum Memtest to make sure everything is okay with that.

I took out the stick of 512 ram i had added and it still does the same thing so it probably isnt the ram.

The hard drive (or it seems like it) makes a click when it happens. Im going to get a new hard drive later and hopefully it fixes the problem.

I've never heard of a hard drive clicking noise having anything to do with the RAM, sounds to me like your hd is on the verge of a fatal crash. Be prepared to replace it.

went out to get a new hard drive and well, i forgot my CCard. So now there closed and im screwed. I just fomatted it and it seems to be running ok for now.

Update:

I formatted and everything seemed to be running fine. I got into WoW then about 1 hr later it made the click again then a 10 sec delay then the crash.

It only does this while i am in WoW.

I might just put my slave drive as my main, sigh another format.

also i tried to put my slave as my main, i unplugged my main hdd and left my slave plugged in. (Sata) now when i had my windows CD in and it loaded for boot from CD it came up right below Boot from CD "Could not find NTLDR"

what does this mean? Im trying to formatt and install windows on my 80g sata drive but it just gives me the NTLDR thing. how do i fix this so i can formatt and install on it?

PSU is going bad...just had that problem yesterday on a customers computer. Test the PSU asap.
See whats happening is your PSU drops out and your HD turns off for a second and thats why you lock up.

sweet ill test it out and switch my PSU with a new one to see if it fix's the problem.
