Computer Desk (3 monitors wont fit)

Hey guys!

I have had this same computer desk from Home Depot for 7+years
Final Setup:


This is of 2 Dell 30"


I am ditching the 2 23" and now have 2 30" and want a third. Can use this for size measurements:


Was going to do Portrait and you can see here why it doesn't work

The table itself has a few indents from my old 22" Iiyama 80 pound monitor, and now that I bought a new U3014 30" Monitor I think it's time to upgrade, as I have no idea how 2 Samung 2333T 23" & the 30" will fit.

What do you guys recommend for a mount / desk? I did not want to go over $250 on the desk (current desk is 4ft x 2 ft), I am open to just about everything from mount options to a new desk or both.

Looking to get a new desk and the best way to set these 3 30" correctly. I was thinking putting them in vertical/portrait mode but the stands don't work for that so I was going to go landscape.

You have a 4ft. banquet table - you could get a 6 or 8ft. table and call it a day :)
 
I just went to Ikea and got a large table. That has been my home base now for 6 years.
 
For 3-monitor you're going to be shopping for either 6-8' tables, using doors, or fabricating things yourself...for any monitor setup larger than 3x22". Anything you see labeled "computer desk" or "desk" for $250 will either not be big enough or not be able to take the weight.
 
I am going to go get the Galant monitor. Any idea on Wall mounts or a way I can fit a 30" monitor?

@5' You'll just barely get 23"+30"+23" on, they'll drape over the ends...and then face the dilemma of where to put your speakers. Depending on how good your monitor stands are, you'll also have to eat more desk space with your KB/M on the table surface. If you're just gaming no biggie....but if you have need/want of a work surface to do work, you'lee want a keyboard armature, but I do not know if one of those will mount to that table. It can work, but you'll probably not see the results as perfect.

Granted I have not owned that specific table, but with any table the wider it is and the more you load it...the more it warps. I'd expect to have to add bracing of some sort to the middle to keep it flat.
 
You don't need a new desk: just mount the monitors vertically, one on top of the other. Job done! :D
 
My desk is fairly small as well.
Shape them in a curve.
Put two near the edge of table.

A 30" monitor is a little over 2 feet wide, so if you add at least 2 feet to your current table it will fit. Ideally get something 7 or 8 feet wide just so no monitors overhang. The Galant desk you linked is a little over 5 feet wide so it's not big enough unless you install one or more extensions to it.

Yeah probably.
Since it's curved you put the 30" in the middle.
Push the 30" far back and the other two on each side curved at an angle.

If I were to put mine in a line I wouldn't be able to fit all three.
And if you can do surround screen (if your GPU can handle) it looks much better.

The first pic would make me nervous how the two 23" base hangs off the side.
The second looks better, but the side monitors bug me it's a personal thing I know lots that do it though.

But I think I'd suggest the second for safety of the monitors if you can make them stable (bumping table and monitors crashing down is bad).

It's easy to setup those monitors sideways in windows. You just rotate them.
 
I just need to find a way to mount them sideways to the monitor I think it would be perfect and keep the 30" monitor on the table.

I have the same setup... three Asus 23" IPS (click for high-res):



The right-most and middle monitors are connected to the machine in my sig and they use the key/mouse on the tray that pulls out. The left-most monitor hooks to the mac mini sitting next to it and it connects to the key/mouse sitting on the desk.

On a related note, an application like Synergy could reduce your multiple keyboards/mice to just one of each.

I'd recommend the galant desks from ikea, those are pretty sturdy and affordable. $300+ may sound like a lot but space to cost ratio is pretty cheap.

The other way is to get a 3 way stand for 30" vesa displays, this way you don't have to spend more money on a desk.
 
I built a monitor stand out of galvanized pipe from Lowes. I built it so it goes between my desk and wall, so it kind of leans against the back of my desk. I have three 23" mounted in portrait and a 15" on top of the center one. Was about $50-$60 in all. Might not be fancy but it works and is very customizable. Just a thought.
 
If you don't mind a small bit of work. Try the Ikea NUMERÄR counter top either the 73 1/4" ($130) or 96 7/8" ($170) and a 3-4 VIKA MOLIDEN ($30) legs.


I would suggest you sand and stain/seal the butcher block as it will look much nicer.




*(You'll probably want at least three Vika Moliden legs, two on each side and one perpendicular in the back center of the desk.)

**You can also use the ULLRIK ($45) legs if you want storage space.
