I completed a Big Adv yesterday. Checked the log and it says it uploaded just fine, but have not seen any credit. I didn't get the base OR the bonus.

Anyone have this happen before?

you were robbed! call the point police!

No never happened to me, but stanford has the dreaded "if your points don't show up nothing we can do" clause (it's in the bigadv post of foldingforum.com).

Check your configuration maybe you're folding under anonymous or evga :D

It took almost 24 hours for my first one, anywhere between 1 and 3 updates for my others

I am missing one at the moment (sent 2 this morning, only one has posted so far.) I am not pnicing just yet, though. I confirmed that they both uploaded without issue.

Not my first Big Adv and I have check user name.

Kinda sucks as I've dropped some PpD and I needed it :( :(

You do need it, I'm only less than 3k ppd behind you :)

12th place, highest Ive hit on the list, 67.7k ppd :)

and much more on the way... FEAR ME!

You will take my place this week as my production overall WILL go down.

By end of week, hopefully I'll have the new i7 up and running with better cooling and that will take me over 100K PpD.

There does seem to be some bigadv WUs that didn't get credit last night. I had one myself.

If you copy and paste the info from your log in this format I can easily check to see if you got credit.

Like this ---> Project: 2681 (Run 3, Clone 3, Gen 89)

If you post it a different way it's time consuming for me to enter the info and my time is limited. ;)

If it turns out your WU didn't get credit post the same info plus the part of the log showing the successful upload like I did in this thread.

Mine was one of these two:

Project: 2681 (Run 4, Clone 4, Gen 77)
Project: 2683 (Run 7, Clone 2, Gen 52)

Both were sent around 3 AM CST this morning. I only have credit for one of them.

Hi musky (team 33),
Your WU (P2683 R7 C2 G52) was added to the stats database on 2010-03-21 03:04:34 for 53778.2 points of credit.

Hmmmm, I sent one up this morning and have not seen any credit for it as well. I'm about to send another one up in about 15 minutes, so I'm betting it doesn't get anything either. :(

Is this the info you guys need to figure out if it posted or not?

No data back from query

That one is missing from the db. You should be ok on your next WU. This issue seems to only apply to WUs turned in last night. I got credit for a bigadv WU turned in later this morning.

I'll post the info for your missing WU in the FF thread.

I have credit now for 1, I'm wondering if things are just behind (they could be).

ChelseaOilman, can you check this for me as well? I'd appreciate it.
(I tried to see if there was a way I could check myself but I didn't find one.) TIA

I think this one did not get any credit for me.

Looks like this should be fixed now.

Re: 171.67.108.22 (bigadv) Missing credits?
by kasson » Mon Mar 22, 2010 8:49 am

We see the issue and are working on it. All returns from here on out should work properly.
(BTW, could a mod merge the bigadv missing credits threads?)

Looks like this should be fixed now.

I hope so, but I'm still missing credit for one of the two -bigadv units I uploaded yesterday. I have yet another one that should complete later today, so hopefully they will get the credit part straightened out before it all gets too saturated to figure out.

+1 Agreed. Same here too....completed 2, have credit for 1 so far. I'm sure the credit is coming though.

I am missing credit for two yesterday, so I really want this figured out.

I am unfortunately going to have to agree with zero2dash. I think they can fix going forward, but they may (or may not) be able to fix those that went up during the blackout period.

I've got one that should post with the 4pm EST update today (crosses fingers). Had one post yesterday afternoon that I received points for, but still nothing on my first one from yesterday morning that never posted / received credit, though.

I've given up hope on the one that was lost yesterday.

It does sound as if the isue has been corrected going foward, just not for those that were lost during the period in question.

I'm just catching up on this story. What's goin' on with the servers?

short story:

there was a small window of time yesterday morning (don't know the specific start/stop of this window). During this time, any Big Adv WU submitted basically got "lost" and no credit was given. Issue has been rectified, but it doesn't look as if those WUs that were lost are recoverable so peeps (including me) will not get credit.

I would like to think that they could give us credit, but I am not holding my breath. Their servers didn't recognize receipt of it so no way to say that I completed it (other than my log file which they have confirmed on their end it didn't make it)

I'm still waiting on credit for 1 and I'm a little perturbed that no mention has been given yet by anyone (kasson or someone else) about digging up and crediting those of us who completed and uploaded WU's and have no credit for them.

Again I would like to think "it's coming", but the lack of mention I find disturbing.

Zero, the problem is the lack of its existence in their DB. Because they have no record of it having been sent, they have no way to retroactively credit peeps.

All we have as any sort of "proof" is our fahlog.

So, are we speculating that they have no log file of the specific work unit being uploaded here? I kind of doubt that would be the case...surely there is some transfer log at their end of the units being transmitted back for credit purposes, regardless of whether the units were logged in their DB or not. Between our Fahlog and their upload logs, I'm hoping there is a viable solution to the somewhat large SNAFU we've got going on here.

I have a hard time believing that they just crapped out some units and sent them to us not knowing about them or putting them *somewhere*, if not in their DB.

Not entirely speculation, but some.

The FF post linked above shows WUs not registering their DB.

You are probably correct in that they can look at their upload logs, but not sure if they are willing or have the resources to do that. I hope they can, but right now, I have set my expectations pretty damn low so I don't get disappointed :(

I think that's proof enough though! :)
They should have some sort of logging on their end that logs not only inbound/outbound IP connections, but probably also WU distribution to those IP addresses. I know very little about servers and absolutely 0 about Stanford's servers, but I would think any server nowadays has logging turned on by default, and archives logs after whatever period (1 day, 7 days, whatever).

I find a hard time believing that they can't say "ok we received a completed WU from IP address x.x.x.x, the WU is not in our DB however username "y" did process the WU and should therefore receive credit for it".

I mean I'm not trying to dump on Stanford (or whomever), but if this type of stuff is allowed to go down, what's the point of Folding if no one gets credit for what they do? Why keep track of anything if that's the case. Why have usernames, teams, passkeys, etc. ? I'm not saying this just because I'm absent those credits, I say it because it makes sense (or rather doesn't make sense). There's no reason for them not to retroactively dish out credits for completed bigadv units, it doesn't matter if for whatever reason they're not in their DB. That wouldn't make any sense either; why have WU's if they're not in the DB? If that was the case, monitoring software would wig out because it wouldn't know WTF WU it was processing and you'd have ???? or whatever.

I'm not saying I want to shut down the farm but I hope this isn't an indication of how things are run there (or how they will start being run there). :(
I mean I know the nV servers have had their issues over the last month or so, and there's been power outages out of their control....I just don't get how something this irritating can happen in a system designed for this grand of a scale of computing and user interaction.

I am sorry if my comments are causing a ruckus. It was not intended to.

I am at this point making conjecture. I am also trying to set my expectations low for the resolution of this hickup.

Do I hope they can fix the problem? Of course I do. Do I personally believe they can, no :(

No, cap, I didn't feel as if you were causing a ruckus...there's no negative to saying what you've said or anything (usually I'm the one that plays devil's advocate when I get the chance, actually...haha). :)

Again though it brings me to a point I just made - if they can't fix this or don't want to fix this, then what's the point of keeping track of anything at all? :( That would make me a very sad panda, but the argument has to be made.

I'm not trying to start a ruckus myself with that comment, but I mean come on. We donate our time and money (whether by buying parts or by paying a little more on the electric bill every month), we receive no monetary compensation...I think the least we (as folders) could ask for that Stanford, the Pande group, (whatever) should give is some sort of mechanism to keep track of some things and dish out credit to users when they complete their stuff. Accidents and server troubles can happen and I understand that (and don't have a problem with that), but there's no excuse for not rectifying the situation. Hopefully this is all a moot point and that's exactly what happens.

I would suggest everyone post in the FF if you haven't already since we're not being told anything at all.

I've posted over there, but there have been no updates from Stanford on this issue.
