there are a few Ultra portable dells, can anyone with experience compare these to each other for the best deal. I am looking for a minimum performance, internet fairing, somewhat capable ultra portable, and these caught my eye.

If you guys know of similar computer models, that I could probably get for cheep given coupons or eBay, please post them, I would be very appreciative.

two of those are nice, however far too expensive for what im looking for

does anyone have any other information reguarding these models?

The ASUS W5J blows Dell out of the water in every way. Intel Core Duo processors, a 256mb x1600, and a built-in optical drive, all at about three and a half pounds. This is a killer notebook indeed.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's one of their new environmentally-friendly laptops.

Asus also makes some less-expensive versions of these with slower processors and integrated graphics; these are excellent as well.

Err the W5J has integrated video I believe. Perhaps you mean the Asus W3J which has the X1600 in it. It also weights about 5 lbs., has a 14" screen and no integrated camera. The Dell M1210 is currently the smallest and most graphically powered laptop with it's Nvidia 7400 Go. Unfortunately because of the graphics card, it's not exactly an ultraportable since it makes the laptop slightly thicker and heavier.

Edit: An ultraportable is usually defined as a a notebook that's 3 - 4 lbs in weight and 1.0" thin.

Actually I have to say that the 1210 is better in every category than the W7J, The 1210 has a metal chassis, looks better, has better sound, same video, ram can go up to 4GB (thats right 4), has an EVDO antenna built in, wifi, bluetooth 2.0, and you can have a 7200rpm sata drive in it.
