compair 4850 to 8800gt

I would like opinions as what you think of these cards , i already have an 8800 gt, are
both these cards about the same? Does 1 have any advantage over the other.
I just want opinions as i may upgrade.

A 4850 would be marginally faster than your 8800gt, but not world-changing. I would suggest getting a 4870 1gb, GTX260 1gb, or better if you are going to upgrade at all. Opting for one of those better cards might force you to wait depending on your budget.

Cliffs:
4850 == 9800GTX+ / GTX250
9800GTX+ / GTX250 > 8800GT, but not by much
(9800GTX+ is the same thing as a GTX250)

HD4870, GTX260, or better > 8800GT, by wide margin

Correct, it would not be much of an upgrade from the 8800GT.

I went from an 8800GT to a 4850, performance increase was there but small; I mainly did it because I got a 2nd 4850 a month or so later.

8800GT ~= 9800GT ~= HD4830.

The 9800GTX+/GTS250 and HD4850 are probably about 10-30% faster. Not much of an upgrade.

4850 is about 10-40% faster, depending on settings, and you can raise AA more on it then the 8800gt, and the 4870 1gb is about another 20-40% faster then the 4850, more on higher res and more AA.

don't step up unless you can find a killer deal on a 260gtx, 4870 or better like I did. 4870 for $113
