I was kinda interested in it, but it's hitting right in the middle of a huge wave of higher profile games. Had this come out back in July or early August, I would have bought it on day 1.
At this point it's now Steam Sale fodder and it'll be competing with Remnant for my $.

I'm tempted to pick up Remnant...sounds like an interesting game and maybe just maybe a worthy Dark Souls clone

I bought the game again 40.00 CD keys version can't refund it if it bombs but the game can't be all that bad. I mean they delayed it for an entire year.

I picked this up. I'll try it for a few but I have so many active games it will really have to strike me. I am still in remnant.

The starting tutorial had me worried game looked generic at the tutorial in the white square area. Game has a slight learning curve but there is a help icon in the menu if you forget which is which. Using a controller this game would probably be a mess with keyboard and mouse trying to run and rotate around stuff. I like it so far but I'm only level 2 just figured out how to level up. If you think you can run though the level to avoid stuff the monsters will just gang run you down. Game looks really nice otherwise at 1440P

the character customization looks like the best part about this game...the gameworld and level design look dull and I really don't like the anime art style

Good to know that it's pretty solid. I'll probably grab both this and Remnant with the Steam Christmas Sale.

I give it a solid 7.5 out of 10. About 6 hours in,reallay enjoying this title. Playing 1440p maxed,smooth.

Remnant is also quite good, and worth a buy.

I think remnant is the way all multiplayer coop should be. follow people as long as you like, randomized dungeons, always get points for stats and materials. system works very well.
I have code vein, just have not gone past the starting prison. as a kb/m player I am wondering how hard it will be to make everything work properly

Fired up code vein, I think I like it. a pretty solid entry in the souls formula. there is a queens greatsword in the starting area, makes things nice. I don't really understand the level up mechanics, there do not appear to be options aside from "level up". Some other things are a bit obscure. I thought there were healing spells.... but no, those are charges renewed at this tree bush thingy. Also shortcuts, but the surge 2 takes shortcuts to the nth degree. Sterling liked the game but he bitched about the NPCs, no matter what you are doing they are commenting on it :)

Mute the sound, and queue up a Bolt Thrower album :)

Some of you might find this interesting... there is a lot of build diversity in the game,.
Magic is pretty OP. Weapon damage builds blood. Blood is used to cast spells.
This is just a glimpse of what it looks like and what can be done.

I just picked this up, gotta say, I've only put a few hours into it, but man it seems more polished at the start than DS3...

Can you switch classes on the fly or visit set in stone with the blood codes?

Looks like more of the same from them coupled with art direction aimed at tickling the fancy of anime fans. All else aside, the anime thing is like nails on a chalk board to me sadly.

Yes seems like a game made for the weebos. Since the down fall of SE jap games been lame and uninspired to me personally.

Generally yes. there are some exceptions though.
I think you have to use each class (scaling model) enough to where you can unlock and move the blood codes to other classes (better chosen scaling model), this takes effort.
weapons and veil (armor) also have their requirements, scaling and upgrades, which will take time and possibly limited materials.
given enough effort you can make radically different builds but they may not be all optimized at once

FROM Software better be getting royalties for this.

That's like saying id should get royalties for every FPS game. Or the devs of Rogue should get money for every Rogue-like/Rogue-lite. This is not even close to the first Soulslike.

I think he was specifically referring to the Anor Londo copycat level, not the game as a whole

It is kind of a copycat look, the level itself is nothing similar. I consider it a tip of the hat, same way sekiro had owl father with an owl familar recognizing Nioh. But others have suggested that may be a common japanese theme, so go figure. even so a lot dark souls content was inspired by actual things, like the double twisted staircase, or the zweihander, or that goofy merchant mask.

It feels like Dark Souls lite, I like the controls and menu's, plus build combos, but it doesn't fuck you in the ass for making a misstep as hard.

This is actually the best comment on it I've heard so far, and may have made my decision for me. Out of all the Souls games, (I know, I know, I'm not old-school and hard-core enough with the series) I like DS3 the best. Probably for similar reasons, and because I liked the modern feel of it more. It seems like maybe I'd like this game for similar reasons. It's not really because I don't like difficult games. I love Hyper Light Drifter, Dead Cells, etc. but something about the early Souls games didn't grab me, and DS3 did.

All the Souls games come with "Manage my saves" where you save 50ty thousand times while scouting bonfires, dying in Code Vein, you just have to worry about losing haze (souls).

that's actually one of the reasons I'm not interested in this...low difficulty, below average graphics, level design is not anything special...I'm a hard core Souls fan so I'm very picky as far as Souls-like copycat games...Lords of the Fallen did the best job of imitating the Souls genre
