I've been reading about Cockpit and have even set it up on an old CentOS7 VM. What are your thoughts on this management tool and do you recommend it? If I am reading correctly, there is a way to set it up and use it to manage other servers as well? I have roughly 20 Linux servers, mostly CentOS, but a few Ubuntu. I'd love to have a dhasboard/console to check on updates, uptime, general resource usage, etc.

I've played with it a little bit on Ubuntu. I found it pretty underwhelming on Ubuntu server, but I've heard it has more hooks into the OS on RHEL, CentOS, and Fedora, so it might be more useful there. On Ubuntu it seems to be very limited.

I would go straight to Kubernetes. Even if you want to run your own hardware. If you run in the cloud it's a no brainer.
