In a surprise move that actually didn't surprise anyone. Chris Roberts the heart and soul and leader of the company everyone wants to buy digital art from has written an edict upon tablets of stone that his game will have the most cutting edge features for PC gamers. PC Gamers DEMAND the very best game possible and he is dedicated to delivering that experience. They were about ready to begin the Beta process when it was decided that the engine needed to support Ray Tracing. Such dynamic lighting would only make everything better.

Mr Roberts did note that thanks to the texture reset they did before they would only have to revisit the settings on all art objects in the game for comparatively minor tweaks so they would all have appropriate reflections.

He has promised that taking off and seeing your own reflection in the canopy of your cockpit will be the next best thing.

So as not to dilute the image of his game with the comparatively lackluster non Ray Trace ready version. The current alpha version will be closed. Anyone with a client supporting the current alpha version will find that their access is closed.

On further note Mr Roberts did further note that the game will relaunch into alpha when it is ready for untainted eyes. As such this is considered a complete relaunch. While thankful for those that had permanent and purchased access to previous alpha revisions only those members with LTI backed ships and or those with existing monthly support subscriptions will be able to participate in future alpha revisions. He did note that he hopes they have cards capable of Ray Tracing because cards without that will not be able to even play the game. It is an integral and important part of his vision of the future of computer gaming, and that Cloud Imperium Games with Roberts Space industries and Star Citizen will lead the way into the brave new world of computer gaming!

Also a new air-frame has been designed, it is the transforming Alzeta class Maid mode... for only 1200 dollars you will be able to switch from suck to blow.

((Please note the above is a parody and the OP is not responsible if any of this comes true.))

It's encapsulated, so it's actually a line segment. :p

What you call a line segment is an engineering sample of a ray. Due to space constraints of the medium we couldn't properly encapsulate an actual ray to show you in this limited space. We have ray designers working to bring you to most high quality rays within the game and that is what this donation of 1500 dollars will get you.

But don't panic, all players will be able to eventually get a ray of this quality within normal game play with an appropriate amount of time spent chasing the ray.

I'm sorry but that studio is over seas and only being ran by the brother of Chris Roberts. So it's restructuring delays on producing a game will be published at a later date and are only tangentaly aligned to the larger Star Citizen Project. (Referenced as SCP in the remainder of this communication.) SCP is not part of Squadron 42 (referenced as SQ42 in the remainder of this communication.).

As such SQ42 is a product of SCP in as such as it borrows from the rich and vibrant history SCP has created. Part of a players journey into SCP may or may not begin with a sojourn through what is known as SQ42. SQ42 is down with OPP. But SCP is down with OPP and YKM. YOLO and KCCO.

SQ42 =/= SCP
SCP != SQ42
SCP / SQ42 = OCP
ED200 = RCOP
RCOP /= T2
T2 * SC = DT2
R2D2 > C3PO

Now that we have made our stance clear on where the two entities you had questions are stand. We would like to share a drawing of the next generation of great ships.

If you would like to pledge for the pre release LTI version of this ship please know it is only going to be 120.00 for a limited time!

What kind of mount-points does that have? It looks like it has plenty of cargo space, so that's good. Does it support a jump-drive? I may be interested in a few for my hangar. I'm trying to assemble a salvage team.

I don't want to add to the shitposting that goes on in the main game thread, but I gotta be honest - as an Aurora backer I was sort of insulted by the "offer" to upgrade to a Mantis for $80-90 or whatever?

I have a 300i and some other lower end ship. I actually am impartial on this. I'll take a wait and see viewpoint until it either outright fails, or they hit a milestone that I'm happy with and jump in. That said, I still think the jokes surrounding the game are often pretty funny. :D

Wah!!!!!!!!!!!! :bigtears:

Cultivate a sense of humor. Who cares if there is a thread like this? I'd rather see this thread, than this stuff in the pseudo-official thread. It's ok to like Star Citizen and still laugh at it a bit. The world will still be here tomorrow.

Do you go to stand-up comedy shows knowing you don't like the comic and then heckle them?

I think SC has the potential to be amazing. (reason I own a couple of ships) I also see a lot about the dev process that is laughable at best. Last I checked people on this site were generally pretty cool with humorous takes on things. Get yourself a Scotch and relax.

We at cloud Imperium games completely agree with your sentiment. You see when our glorious leader and founder Christopher Roberts The Great initially put this game into kick starter it was to gain a following to see if publishes would be willing to fund the further development of the game, but that quickly changed into funding the game completely because of the intense following, and Christopher the Great realizing that he didn't need to truly answer to anyone. What most don't understand and amazing people like you seem to understand fully is that when CRTG said that the game would be out in about two years, he didn't stipulate which two years the game would be published in.

We can even point to the fact that SQ42 that is a story within the Star Citizen Universe (SCU) is going to be published separately from the Star Citizen Public Universe (SCPU). These will indeed come out in years different from one another. As such the game will be released... within the confines of two calendar years. That was the true meaning when CRTG announced the game and he has struggled to understand why backers do not seem to understand that fulfilling his vision of this game is a life long goal.

But please do not worry, we are looking into potentially taking the steps so that your progeny may be able to inherit the right to play the beta of this game upon your passing. CRTG has thankfully been able to invest heavily in stem cell therapy and biochemical life extension so he will be able to see the vision fulfilled. As that is a target goal of this project he would like to remind you to please fund more so his vision can entertain your great grand children.. and beyond!

Putting aside the subject being Star Citizen, these sorts of threads serve no purpose. You want to have joke/trolling threads, take it to genmay or whatever containment zone is made for that. Posting something patently untrue in its own thread (not to mention there's already a populous thread on the game itself), just seems to be a bad faith attempt to smear the target du jour with literally "fake news", because enough people won't read carefully and , especially if it confirms existing biases, will just inspire further anger despite the fact there's no truth to what's written.

It would be no different than if I wrote a "news" post about say... "The Last of Us 2 developers highlight how in their game zombie plague is caused by heterosexual relationships and that's why the homosexual protagonists must exterminate "immoral" heterosexuals within the game world". Complete bullshit? Clearly. However, its just barely plausible enough in the minds of some that you'd have retweets, reblogs "articles" at shitstorm sites, etc... and of course certain people rattling off about the global homosexual conspiracy and and the like.

Regardless, it would be an untrue thread in the gaming section, that doesn't tell anyone anything useful about The Last of Us 2, cluttering the forum for actual game news and serving only to act as a winking nudge to those with a certain ideological bend to vent their bile.

This site used to have standards. Shit flinging trolls as a "joke" , much less as its own post, shouldn't be acceptable. There are places for that kind of letting off steam, but leave it to its containment zone.

We will launch a deep dive investigation to see when and how your sense of humor was damaged. While we appreciate your most helpful feedback we also find it to be lacking in any real feeling or zing. Perhaps start again from the top but this time with feeling?

Edit to add: I also feel you miss the line about this post being a parody. The best parody has a bit of truth to it. I'm sorry that a forum post for a closed (hopefully will reopen?) website has brought you to the point of imminent dissatisfaction with your experience on the sub forums kept alive by those willing to donate to the cause. If someone re posts this as news... I can't help that. This was posted as a parody post 100%.

But why read the entire post and actually understand that aspect? I mean i like to be outraged just because. Star Citizen is and will be the best game to ever be made......when (or if) It comes out.....Geez....

Hmm... IMO it's not as though we have a glut of this sort of humorous post in the PC Gaming sub. It was pretty easy to tell it was a joke. I think if we're looking for journalistic integrity in a PC Gaming sub forum, we might be asking a little too much. I get not wanting the place to go to hell in a handbasket, but was this thread really causing anyone any mental anguish, or steering anyone down the wrong path? I don't know, I expected a bit more from this place. Like the ability to take a joke, the ability to determine if something was meant in jest, and the ability to steer clear if that isn't your thing.

If there were 500 of these threads, keeping people from getting their PC Gaming discussion fix, then ok. This clearly isn't an issue at the moment though, and if anything this sub forum is lacking in content and discussion as of late.

Nobody is going to base their purchasing decision and the use of their hard-earned money on a thread like this. Nor does anyone expect them to.

Hey, if it's THAT big of a deal, I really don't know what to say. Otherwise, it probably would have run its course by now if the people complaining about it didn't step in.

I'm going to go ahead and roll my eyes now.
