I have an OPtiplex 3020 and would like to upgrade the onboard video but don't want to break the bank. Let me know what you have.
I would also like to find some vanilla 2x4 or better 2x8 sticks of mem. Must be low density ram. My old Ripjaws 8 gig , 1866 sticks only show as 4 gig each. I don't need golden samples just functional and cheap.
Thanks.

What kind of performance are you targeting?

The gT 1030 is the fastest video card you can buy that fits that description, or you can drop things down to a GT 710.

The budget is the biggie. The Optiplex comes with only vga out and first I need at least DVI out. If you had a 1030 for $30.00 or so I would be interested.
Looking at a GT 520 right now as probably the best I can afford.

GT 1030 low profile already mentioned, the cheapest open box (video card only) at Micro Center is $70.

You can probably try searching eBay for a used GT 730; suggested PSU is 350W.

The GT 710 should be faster than the GT 520, and has a warranty! You also get the improved memory compression of Kepler!

They finally launched a part with the full GK208 core. Just look far parts that advertise Max. Resolution: 4096 x 2160, as that wasn't available on GT 520.

The 3020 SFF has both VGA and Display Port 1.2. You can get a dirt cheap, $5 DisplayPort to DVI adapter that will work fine if 3D performance isnt the concern.

See spec sheet: https://i.dell.com/sites/csdocument...dz/CSG-EN-XX-ALL-Optiplex-3020-Spec-Sheet.pdf

I was able to grab a gtx750 for $35 watching ebay. It seems to be the most reasonable right now. I have also used r7 250 video cards in these which were neat because you could crossfire them (dell has a low profile version that you can sometimes find cheap by searching for the dell part number instead of r7 250)
