I've ust tried the new JERICHO demo on the PC, and I gotta say it's awesome. It's so cool to be able to control any character of a squad!!!!!!!!! Especially when you consider each one of them has different powers and combat techniques. It allows you to experience the same game in several different ways.

I loved this demo. Can't wait to get my hands on the full game. :D

damn, it's about time we get something from the man that brought us undying! cant wait to get home to check it out.

Tried it. Don't like it. I HATE team-based games with allies that are AI. They're always in the wrong place at the wrong time and are usually more of a liability than asset. Too bad to, because it looked like it would be a good game if you had just one character to control and let him amass the powers over time that the other have.

i am totally on the fence about this one because on one hand it looks really good and runs well, i loved Undying. i think the story in full game could pretty cool, but having to switch between different classes depending on what you are up agaisnt in the game could get to be a bit of a pain in the ass.

each member of the team has cool abilities and weapons, and just to play one team member would prolly take away from the game, and to try and play them all might suck.

i think i will still buy it, but i would like to read some reviews on the full game first.

I think you HAVE to play as all the characters. I'm curious. This is different.

Pretty poor in my opinion.

Pros:

Looks great and runs smooth.

Cons:

Dont like the forced depth of field when looking down corridors though.
The sound is utter shite. Weapons sound weak and the katana doesnt seem to make a noise when you hit an enemy with it.
The characters are your average action stereotypes, big black dude with a chaingun, skinny oriental chick with a katana and next to no clothing, i.e whore boots and a swimsuit, 80's Goth chick with a sniper rifle blah blah blah.
None of them can jump.
You cant walk off ledges.
The enemies have that crappy 'stand in one place and shoot' or 'run at the player' type AI.
I HATED the bit where you go down the tube.
Demo took longer to install than to finish and it felt like i'd just played the last level of Doom 3.

So so disappointing. I'll be staying away from this one and i was so looking forward to it too. :(

Interesting. I LOVED this demo. and the tunnel part was really cool and different especially for a FPS. This game seems to take a formula and really give it a whole new twist. I wanted so much more after that demo! Basically this feels like it's gonna be really intense.

Who cares about jumping? Every game doesn't have to have jumping (Gears of War)

This better be in the Playstation store tomorrow. Im dying to play this game, undying is one of my all time favs.

I loved the demo. It didn't run as well as I had hoped on my system with everything high (was chugging under 30), so I turned shadows down to medium and it hovered around 30 which was manageable.

I'm interested in seeing how it will run on my PS3 tomorrow.

Either way, as I said, I loved the demo. The graphics were fantastic, the gameplay was good (nothing stellar, but I had a blast playing as the katana girl), and was overall an enjoyable experience. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

...my one real complaint has to be the button-press event at the end. Ughh... most of the buttons weren't even registering, and then they flashed by at the speed of light... god!! lol
That's one thing I hope more PC shooters don't have in the future. For the consoles, maybe... but PC: NO!!!

EDIT: Anyone else think "The Darkness" when the main menu showed up?

This game is awesome.
Awesome graphics, lots of fun.

Except when I was the sword girl, I felt that when ever I was attacking a monster I was out of control and couldn't tell where i was going.

But other than that it was cool, like the characters and how they have unique abilities. But cmon, what kind of FPS doesn't have jumping? Well w/e, I look forward to playing this one.

Is there any way to adjust the mouse speed ? I didn't see anything under control options. Did I miss it ?

I found it very disorienting with sword. The monsters really blend in with the surroundings. Hope there are more exterior areas, but that may defeat the whole idea of this game. Just not really interested in another Prey/DOOM 3 game. Fence-sitting on this one too.

Pretty much sums it up for me too, will pick it up when it gets price cut though maybe.

other than how short the demo is and how every1 is a steriotype, does the perform well? lag etc? use up a lot of ram?

I ran a few benchmarks and 25fps was the average at 1024x768 with high settings except advanced smoothing and vsync were off.

I have to check this one out. Undying was just awesome (except for the ending IMO). The atmosphere, the story, the action, the gameplay, everything...
Hope Jericho lives up to Undying in all these points, since at least in graphics, it will.

On my 7900GT, with in-game settings maxed out except advanced smoothing and v-sync off, I get around 30 to 40 FPS at 1024x768. I tried playing at 1680x1050, but with that resolution I only got around 10 to 15 FPS.

My specs are in my sig...using 7950GT 512 Superclock (single now, need to change it) with shadows on low and montion blur off...acceptable framerate but no more than that. Chugs a bit when there is a lot going on onscreen.

Just played it, was pretty fun, enimies seem a little dumb though. I died on that button tapping thing like 4 times though, glad they make it so you start over at the begining of the sequence.

PHENOMENAL! i just started my own thread about it but i guess you guys beat me to it :(

honestly it's like a breath of fresh air. something different in the FPS realm and i really think it's about time. the sequence with the button presses is very resident evil, and the team A.I. is exceptionally good. This is definitely on my to-buy list. :) :)

Just thought I'd update: I downloaded the demo on my PS3 this afternoon, and it runs significantly better than it did on my computer. It seems everythings on high, and motion blur was enabled (had to turn it off on my comp), and there was little to no slowdown at moments with heavy action.
Nice!
I'll probably pick it up on the PS3, then.

I thought the demo was pretty good....waaaayy too short though. I was like "wtf, that's it? I just got started!". Graphics were really quite good and they did a solid job with the lighting effects. I thought the gameplay was OK....there wasn't anything about it that jumped out at me as being terribly unique. I did enjoy having the ability to jump between the characters and use whichever one fit the situation best but I would have liked to see more squad commands other than "follow me" and "hold position". I kept thinking it would have been nice to have the ability to place squadmates in different positions to perform different roles, ala Republic Commando.

I think this game would be worth picking up in the future. Would I pay $50 for it new?...probably not, especially with all the other highly anticipated games being released. But if it hit the $20-$30 I think I would jump on it.

I couldn't figure that one out. Just as soon as I press all the buttons and hang on to the side, some bleeding monster falls on my head and I plummet to my death!

Same with the 360 demo....runs smoother and seems to be easier to control. Hell, I didn't even notice any difference with the graphics!

How is it compared to Undying? I loved the story for that game.
There isn't much story in the demo other than the exposition text while the game is loading. The demo drops you straight into the action and drops you straight out (finishing the demo will exit the game).

Just played thru the X360 version of the demo last nite and I thought it was pretty good .. the sword play , as stated, feels a little out of control . Probably due to the fact that you seem to be looking with your swing instead of dead panning straight head while your arm just flails about

I really thought the controls where very tight and as a noob to console fps games .. the controls where the easiest I have played to get on target quickly when shooting ..or maybe I'm just getting better with a controller with my aiming ..:p ...

I don't know that I particularly care for the enclosed dark environment showcased in the demo ..but I guess that's supposed to add to the scare effect .

the drop in the shaft thing reminded me of Tomb Raider Legends ... overall I feel the demo did what it was supposed to do .. give you a taste and make you at least interested in getting some more

Guess what I found in my system32 folder after installing the Jericho demo? CmdLineExt.dll...in other words...Securom. It was created at the time and date I installed the demo. I don't know what made me look but I had a shit feeling about it and sure enough..there it is. I haven't looked for any other traces of it yet.

Game seemed to chug along fine on my rig (AMD 64 3200+, 6800GT, 2 GB RAM, XP Pro). Really had to drop the graphics to get smoothe framerate at 1680x1050, but comparing my results to everyone else's comments, it sounds like this is at least a sign that the game will only look prettier when I upgrade my hardware.

Can't really tell too much about the plot. Control scheme leaves much to be desired. Characters seem stereotypical to the Nth degree. What can be gathered from the demo is that the in-game summary video of the plot thus far has some initial spoilers in it that could better have been presented if the player experienced the plot fresh from the beginning.

I like the idea of the timed event-key sequence that they did in the tunnel. When well handled, it can be a bonus like Prince of Persia or God of War. Codemasters still has some work to do in this department to ensure that key presses are a little more obvious. Because when a demon ison top of your character when playing on a *wide-screen* monitor, the half-second flash of an arrow way on the left-hand side of the screen blends in too much to the environment. And to beat the sequence, you have to pull your focus away from the in-your-face scare, thus counteracting the whole point of the scene.

On a side note ... a 45 minute download for a 3 minute demo is really annoying.
