Hey... technically, it is an X-Box... but it still plays dvd's... the thing is, often times, it has trouble reading games, and while playing a dvd, it will skip on and off through the whole movie. I make sure the disks are completely clean... so, my only thought is that the lense is dirty. how does one go about cleaning one such lense? no way i'm paying 100 dolloars for frickin microsoft to clean it...

Don't use the cleaner disks. They can scratch the lens and often lose the little brush thing inside the player. Open it up and use a qtip or corner of a tissue moistened with isopropyl alcohol and *gently* wipe the lens with it. The lens is on little spring mounts so be very careful not to put too much pressure on it.
