I pull one of these off my main heatsink every few months:
Not to sound like a dick, but shouldn't PC maintenance be part of the tech departments job (I'm assuming you are calling your IT support the tech department)? Do you also rag on the teachers that don't break out the pipe wrench when they hear a a toilet that is slowly wasting water?Amatuers...I have to deal with Teachers who NEVER clean their computers. I've seen PC's come back into the tech department that look worse than these...![]()
Ah a smokers computer. Something that frankly should be classified as Bio hazard.
I will Never work on a smokers computer again. Those are bar none the single most disgusting thing I have ever put my hands into.
I could have gone my whole life without knowing that and been fine.
We fix PC's for a company that makes pizza crusts, part of that process is some kind of oil that coats the outside of the crust. The oil gets into anything and everything. Think of smokers dust, but gooey. It cannot be blown out.
Is there away to get rid of the large amount of dust I have in my room? I don't know where it comes from but my computer dust filter get filled up badly every week...![]()
Just an FYI for anybody that still uses compressed air, you should really take a look at the Datavac ED500 electric duster. I had mines for about two years now and I have absolutely no regrets in buying it. Its just as strong as the initial burst of compressed air, but it doesn't whittle down like compressed air does due to pressure loss. Never again will I have to purchase canned air again... unless I see a huge ass bug in the corner that I can't reach... lol
This thread reminds me why I no longer offer to look at builds I didn't construct myself. Any computer I put together I maintain, period. If someone brought in a tower for me to look at that was in this conditions I would laugh....hysterically.
Anyone that has ever worked in a computer shop has seen this time and time again. The worst is always the people that everyone plus the dog smokes. Nasty bunch of people, nasty house. SUPER nasty inside the computer case.
To get that dirty they must have filthy dog or cat in the home and smoke.
can consoles get that dirty on the inside?
