Is nothing sacred anymore? Now they have to go and make a movie out of one of the best arcade games of all time. Something tells me it's going to be a bust even with The Rock in it. Check out the trailer below.

Check out the video here.

Hollywood just does not care anymore.... this looks bad.. real bad. All is not lost though, i did see an excellent movie.. Netflix "Wheel Man" no CGI great acting.. great car chases.. Excellent movie.

Looks better than I expected. Doesn't mean I'll go watch it when it comes out but I might rent it from amazon when it hits there. Cheesy movies like this don't bug me, what bugs me is the license fee the studio wants means it will never show up on MST3K.

Gonna see this in Imax, not gonna lie. Spent DAYS going through all the levels in rampage on my C128 just to have the game crash after I ran out of cities.

Jeez, how many people even remember that game? It was big in the mid 80's and has been more or less dormant since. Have they even made any reboots or sequels (other than "World Tour?")

Yeah they made a movie out of the board game Battleship, I'd say that sacred cow was ground up and served on a bun for lunch a long time ago.
I bought a new version of electric Battleship (the board game) to play with my kids. I was like WTF? They replaced a lot of the boats with planes, tanks, and just a few ships. The also added a new game mode (optional).
I got it from an auction for 99 cents, so not griping too much. However, I wanted boats like I had as a kid.

If your pining away for a more traditional feeling movie, check out Small Town Crime, I saw it at my local film fest this year and it was great.

Also The Girl with all the Gifts.

Wait. I thought they were scientists. I'd think audiences everywhere would like to see at the end when they finally "lose" - them shrinking back down, back into scientists... and then sulking away off the screen naked covering themselves?

lol.

Well, we can hope for Riff Trax then!

But they already made this movie. They just called it "Wreck it Ralph" instead of Rampage.

Ralph is the name of the Werewolf character from the original game. And he does exactly what the three monsters in the game Rampage do.

The Girl with all the Gifts, surprised me, was expecting another horrible zombie flick and it turned out rather well.

overuse of CGI, not to mention really bad use of CGI, this movie is gonna flop hard. I especially hate movies that use CGI helicopters and explosions for everything. You even have an A-10 warthog with a gatling gun firing at what sounds to be about 60 rpm instead of 4000. Can they not even get someone involved that knows basic shit like this? Why is The rock such a sellout? He'll literally do any movie for a paycheck it seems. I actually like him in that HBO show Ballers, he could probably do some decent flicks if he just tried.

Is there a movie that The Rock will not pass on lol. Got to give him credit for his work ethic. He just doesn't slow down.

He understands the bottom line -- Hollywood is all about money and influence, and if you make enough movies, your name is always in the public perception, meaning that you get offered more movie roles, so you make more money.
Don't know how the Rock lives his life, but it takes a lot of money to live a lavish lifestyle; even more so, if you want to set up big trusts to take care of your friends/family, so that they can live very comfortably too (without paying Uncle Sam the dreaded inheritance tax; this is why there are still a ton of "tax shelter options").
Heck, Tom Cruise already has plenty of money, and he's still grinding out flicks. They aren't art films, but it's no accident that he (despite all the media scrutiny over his personal life) continues to be one of the most powerful "movers and shakers" in Hollywood.

dwayne johnson always signs up for shitty movies.

But money beats dumb awards and statues

As Dolph Lundgren once said, when asked about the straight-to-rental B films that he makes (instead of more intellectual/artier fare), "Yeah, they're crap. But, if you were offered a million dollars to work for 3-5 months, would you do it?" Not too many "art films" offering you anywhere near that kinda money :D

The Rock has the exact same mentality, he's just being paid a lot more.

I bet the atmosphere working on these movies is a lot more fun and enjoyable than other movies. The whole crew is probably joking and having a good time while they're making great money. So you have a fun job with cool people that pays well; sounds pretty great.

Except on a Michael Bay film!
The stories I've heard about that D-bag ... :p :D
Although, I must admit that his non-action black comedy film "Pain and Gain" was actually pretty good, very underrated, and very darkly funny, like a violent and negative version of the original Ghostbusters.

What was that arcade game where you shot hoses into your enemies and then inflated them until they exploded? I want to see what they can do with that one.
