Some of the new HD versions of old movies are OUTSTANDING. Particularly the new remasters of 2001 and The Shining. Blazing Saddles was incredible as well. Those were definitely good enough to be worth the premium. The Scorsese movies look great too (Casino and Goodfellas).I don't plan to just buy CG movies for my HD player and House of Flying Daggers has pretty good cinematography and doesn't use low quality film. The best quality I have seen on my 360's HD player is the King Kong movie that came with it. Why am I not surprised they included that movie specifically? Friend lent me Perfect Storm in HD and I already have it on DVD so compared with that too (HD at 720p and DVD at 480p) and there wasn't much difference again. Sure, I would rather have HD versions but not at the premium price they are charging currently. I see you can get HD version of Clockwork Orange now but I am not going to give away my SD version just so I can pay thirty bucks for the HD version.
Also, claiming HD and BD affects color quality I find very questionable. It's the remastering that can affect those aspects and not the fact it is at a higher resolution. My remastered version of Planet of the Apes (original version) looks superb on my HD Projector and it is just SD DVD.
