"“The sharing, analysis and management of research data are crucial for scientific and technological innovation in today’s big data era,” Wang Ruidan, deputy director of the National Science and Technology Infrastructure Center, said during a Beijing forum on digitized scientific research.

Meanwhile, China’s National Astronomical Observatory said on Friday it will open its 500-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope, the world’s largest single-dish radio telescope, to global scientists next year for research work, state broadcaster CGTN reported."

I think it’s a giant transmitter, China placed it there in an attempt to broadcast the brown note into a designated area on command to use as riot control. That way during a moment of civil unrest or opposition leaders giving speeches they can pinpoint them and single them out or over a large area and make them shit their pants. You can’t riot if your pooping yourself, and you would never take a leader seriously if during a rousing speech they crapped themselves mid way through.

Essentially this.

Once I actually found the "Brown Note," I was able to completely quit coffee forever.

How can rebel armies form if their leaders look like idiots?
How can rebel armies form if they can't even communicate with each other?

A 6G standard hasn't been made, so no, they haven't.

Though running above the ~800 ghz spectrum is going to be interesting, as it is going to be one of the technologies used (along with tons of scattering/direction control of them, beam management, all kinds of goodies) , but that area is going to be like killed by water vapor.

And people are scared of the radiation G5 suppose to be emitting.

"5G"

Besides mm wave, all the frequencies used by 5G have been used by earlier iterations of cell phones.

In addition, the higher frequencies (mm wave) have been used for communications and radio observatories for years.

In summation, 5G isn't doing anything besides making your phone bill go up, and maybe getting a little bit extra DL speed.

what about the extra radiation? does that count

what about the extra radiation? does that count

No. It's well within the non ionizing spectrum. There's been a rediculous amount of non ionizing radiation in our environment for what, over 100 years? Pretty well since radio started.

But that leads into another topic completely. Is non ionizing radiation harmful? So far there doesn't seem to be much evidence. Yes there have been some studies that have concluded that it *might* be possible as well as a bunch that say no. Problem is it's hard to narrow down a specific cause if it's low level and you have a pile of other stuff in the environment that cause cancer. Chemicals and even exhaust from cars for example. It's pretty close to impossible to study in isolation.

So far there isn't much. I'm not about to wear a tinfoil hat until there's something a little more substantial.

What's extra? All radio waves are radiation, and then ones in question are all non-ionizing. Like THRESHIN said, we've been filling the airwaves for the last 100 years, so the change to 5G is nothing new. We're using frequencies that have been in use for years, at power levels that have been in use for years.

It's also no higher broadcast levels than 4G (or 3G) on the same frequency. So 700mhz 4G and 700mhz 5G are going to look the same on a spectrum analyzer, it is just different encoding. They aren't cranking up power levels.

Also for anyone older around here, you may remember this same shit from the 80s but with powerlines: There was a big to do that high voltage powerlines put out radio waves and it would cause cancer and other issues, particularly in kids. Well it is true that HVAC powerlines act as antennas and put out substantial 60Hz (or 50Hz) waves, it also turns out that those waves are about 5 million meters peak to peak and don't interact with you very much. None the less there have been multi-decade longitudinal studies and... they aren't harmful.

Every time a new technology that uses RF comes around, some people get all worked up about it and health. It is the same old song and dance. So don't worry, unless you see something that is an actual, reputable, scientific study.

And for people who get worked up about the mmW stuff because it is higher frequency, in the 20-50GHz range, might I introduce you to terahertz radiation? You are daily, right now, exposed to radiation around 600THz. Yes right at this moment. You might know it under another name though: Green. Visible light is EM radiation in the approximate range of roughly 430-730THz.

Non-ionizing has to cook the target over time to cause damage.
IE: an excess of radio will make scrambled egg of your eyeballs.

Ionizing takes only a single photon to slice an organic chemical
bond. The target doesn't have to get hot or even be aware.

No Taco, headaches are merely sea slugs they recently implanted.
You will get used to sharing skull space with them in time.

Radiation is when socks get replaced by exact duplicates, only evil.
Same thing, but completely different.

Get a tinfoil hat. They have been keeping brains safe for decades. Just make some for the birds if you are worried about them. I make pet tinfoil hats on etsy if anyone is interested.

Pretty sure there was a documentary about this made in 1986:

Microwave oven is non-ionizing, and of course it is harmful.

Power drops over distance. Radio signals when received are in the milliwatts, at the transmitter it can be up to 80kw. This exposure is low enough it isn't harmful as the last 100 years has shown. You are also miles away from the transmitter.
The 5g concerns are that for it to work, a transmitter has to be placed low to the ground and also with close spacing due to the frequencies used. Telephone pole height, spaced out every block or 2. The fact that people will be able to get within 15 to 20 feet of these transmitters, is why there has been much concern over the safety of 5g. It would depend on the transmitted power, how it interacts with tissues/brain signals at those fairly close distances, but you also have to factor in exposure times. There is every chance that someone will be within close proximity for hours on end to those transmitters.
