There's that 8 port Netgear 10Gbe switch for $750 out there, are there any cheaper ways however to get 4x 10Gbe ports on a single switch? This can include second hand items on ebay. Thanks!

If you can live with CX4, that should open your options a bunch. Dell 6224 with two expansion modules. Otherwise a Quanta LB6M on eBay.

Grab a used Dell/Force10 switch off eBay. Seeing a few up there now in the $200 range, buy-it-now.

Man 4 ports is hard to come by for a good price.

However for 2 ports you can get a Cisco 4948-10GE. I have one for sale with one X2 10GB SR fiber card in it, PM me. Or look on ebay they avg around $300.00 and as far as overall switching power will run circles around pretty much anything on the market that does not cost $30,000 today. The Fiber X2 SR 10GB cards go for about $30-50 each.

For less than the price of an Netgear or Hp you can have two of these switches and 96 ports of mind blowing performance.

You can get a Dell X1052 with 4x SFP+ for $500-600. Use one in my home network, works great.
