What would be the best quality PSU for about $30-$50? Modular and non-modular options please. Thanks

Wait for the Antec EA500 or EA650 to hit $50 with free shipping during one of the many Antec PSU sales that Newegg has. Otherwise I recommend upping your budget for a quality PSU. I recommend this PSU:
BFG Tech LS-550 550W PSU - $67 w/ free shipping

There are no quality modular PSUs below $80 right now (price of the Silverstone ST60F). At least on newegg anyway.

Honestly, you've done a ton of research into the graphics cards yet you chose to skimp on research and buying the most important part in a PC, the PSU? Might want to read this PSU FAQ:

You recommended http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371005 a while back. Would this be able to support my build?

Yeah, I wasn't actually intending to skimp on the PSU because I learned how important the PSU is. Since this computer isn't going to be heavy-duty as the main build you have been helping me on, I was trying to find a PSU that would have the same high quality as ones around $80, but maybe not as many features that would help bring the price back down. Or am I just dreaming up of a unicorn here?

If I'm planning on using this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163116 for this build, is a modular psu necessary, or can it function well with a normal one?

Any opinions about http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341010?

It would but it costs way too much money at $60 since for just $7 more you could get the higher wattage/amperage BFG PSU I linked to earlier. IIRC, when I recommended that Antec PSU, it was at a considerably lower price.

No you're not dreaming up a unicorn as long as modular cables isn't a factor. Unfortunately you chose kind of a bad time to buy a cheap PSU since there are no good Antec Earthwatts PSU deals from a reputable seller now. If you asked a month ago there were quality Antec Earthwatts PSUs deals up the wazoo. Now there's hardly any.

The closest is that BFG LS-550 for $67.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with that case but in nearly 80 to 90% of the times I've seen others use that case, they're using a modular PSU. It could function well with a normal PSU if you can figure out how to hide or tuck away the cables.

Avoid. It's based on the FSP Episilon PSU design which has out of spec ripple, or voltage fluctuations, at high loads that can damage or kill your system. Granted, you may not reach such high loads but why pay for a PSU that can kill your system?

PCboost.com has a Antec EA-500D for $35. I've ordered from them in the past. Shipping for me was $5 at the time.

Don't purchase their extras (warranty, power cord, etc).

Yes, but since the build would easily run on an Earth Watts 380 just about any PSU mentioned in this thread so far would be far from "skimping".

I was making a general statement regarding how "skimping" on a PSU can lead to issues, not that all PSU's listed on this thread would be considered as "skimping".

Danny Bui provided some good advice on this thread.

Again, an Antec earthwatts 500watts for $35. You can't beat it. I've ordered from PCboost numerous times.

$55.

That's about it. Both are Delta designs. They're the same psu

I tried looking for different prices on the EA-500D, but google shopping doesn't give anything. So I tried researching a bit more and apparently the 500D is using cheaper quality components than the normal one. Someone said that the EA-500 listed on Newegg is actually the 500D, so you're right that they're the same (newegg just mislabeled it). So if I want to get the normal EA-500, the price is probably going to be much more than $35. Even though the delta product is using cheaper components, is it still reliable, or should I not consider it anymore?

If I drop this from consideration, I'm leaning towards the Corsair 400CX or the EA-430 (although I hope this one doesn't use delta products too)

Ok dude, some clarification:
- ALL EA500 being sold anywhere are now the EA500D model. The original Seasonic built EA500 are no longer sold anywhere.
- The only Earthwatts still being made by Seasonic is the EA380. The EA430, EA500 and EA650 are now made by Delta
- The EA500D should still be a reliable PSU considering that it's bigger bro got such a good review here:

I see. So I suppose if I pick EA-500 then I'll just get it at pcboost.com.

For my setup, which one should I get: Antec EA-500, Antec EA-430, or Corsair 400CX?

All are about equally good, and will be able to handle the load fine. Just get whichever is the cheapest.

Agreed. Delta might not be as good as Seasonic, but they're not bad by any means. Should work fine for what you're going to plug into it.
