Lets start off by saying I want to do this cheap. Like REAL cheap. sub 300 for everything.

I found this deal, http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.513340

Just wondering what that the AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition by todays means, I could only find reviews from like 2008/9

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Casual Gaming.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
300$

3) Where do you live?
Ottawa and sometimes Toronto, Canada

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Case, CPU, Power Supply, and Ram

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
I have HDD's that I will be using, I also have a 7900GS card I may be using if I can get a capacitor reattached.

6) Will you be overclocking?
No

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
23" LCD

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
ASAP

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
Nothing really special, would like the ability to add SLI, but not necessary. Plenty of SATA ports would be grand too, with RAID.

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
No issues here

Define casual gaming for us: Which games will you play? At what level of visual quality?

That 7900GS isn't going to cut it. A decent mid-range card capable of playing Fallout 3/New Vegas at 1920x1080 will cost around $150-$250 by itself (yes, in Canadian dollars).

And you've said nothing about the PSU that you were planning on using... well, which one?

The case came with a PSU - a shitty one, at that. A "585W" PSU that could barely provide 300W in realistic conditions.

I bought an OCZ Fatal1ty 500W PSU

I'm a little confised.

You need a PSU, but you already jsut bought one?

Also, want to make sure, you don't need a motherboard either, if so, what motherboard do you currently have.

I JUST bought one, it was a really good deal, 30 bucks. I couldn't pass that up. yes I still need a motherboard.

Here's the best I could do, $300 is really pushing it, this is with a video card, because your 7900GS won't really cut it. This only works if you don't mind doing the rebate thing, and also don't mind using manufacturers like BioStar for motherboard.

Oh ya, also should add my roommate is giving me a free case, so you can scratch that from the list.

Just to finish this up:
- Go with the cheapest 2GB or 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM you can find. CAS does not matter.
- Go with the Athlon II X4 640 CPU or the Phenom II 955 if your budget permits
- Motherboard wise, make sure that it's socket AM3 only.

Start with tbe biostar mono that combo's with 4gb ram for 86 bucks. then add a cheap quad core.
