Changing 7800GT Settings Causes Screen Brightness to Decrease.

I'm currently using a eVGA 7800GT CO and drivers 81.85. Whenever I decide to change my settings(desktop right click, settings, advanced, GeForce tab), my screen's brightness goes down. It seems to actually change my monitor setting brightness down(i.e: I can press the buttons on my monitor and see that the brightness is turned down to 0 from 100) Now, I can still see the screen images and change the settings. After i'm done changing some settings, to fix the issue I could just power down the monitor and turn it back on(CRT Monitor, Viewsonic E75).

Is there a fix to this?
