in XP I went to check a backup I had just burned, the drive started to spin and a messege box flashed by saying something about copyright and the disc came up blank.
so I tried other discs, all showed as empty, including a windows 98 installation disc.
I Burned a disc and played it in the DVD player hooked to the TV, worked fine.
so I rebooted into my win98 backup system {dual boot xp/98} and the drive works perfectly.
I ran a couple online virus scanners - nothing.
avg antivirus had not found anything wrong.
adaware 6 and spybot s&d = clean too.
so what I think happened is something got to my registery and told it that anything in the CD player is copyrighted and microsoft doesn't want it played.
along those lines.
help ?
