case fan compatibility with motherboard

First of all sory for my quite bad english
Now the thread, i help my friend making a new pc, but he buy the the component and ask the shop to assemble the computer but they said that the fans and the motherboard arent compatible, i want to know if that is true or they want to get more money for different fans

i really want to know if its compatible or not, or if its just partially compatible.
And if its compatible, i want to know if i can choose the colors with asus aura sync or i need the controller?

The motherboard does not have an RGB header so it can not control the fans lighting.

You can get this to control the fans lights.
