Card comparable or better than my gtx 570 ?

Was having some PC trouble looks like the graphics card needs replaced. I took out the gtx 570 and the onboard works when I take the 570 out guess I need a new card Im just glad its not the motherboard I was told the 660 is pretty similar.

but is the rest of my PC good enough to warrant a 660 ti or a 670 for future proofing ? or would it not be worth it and just upgrade the whole system in the future

1090t does reasonably well in gaming. It's no 3570k/3770k, but it's far from worst case.

You should be fine upgrading the GPU and waiting on the box upgrade.

660ti vs 570
670 vs 570

Note that the 660ti is hardly 'quicker' than the 570. The 670 is a more substantial upgrade.
 
If you're going to spend $ on a new card, it would be worth it to spend a bit more to get a 670, otherwise, I would say to just buy another 570 and get a SSD with the money you would save from buying a 660ti. Just my two cents.

I agree. And also, SSD is an "one way upgrade", once you got one, you won't move back to hard disks.
 
Agreed. A SSD is huge. As far as video card, I also agree that the 670 would be the best route from where you are at on the green camp side.
 
Don't get the Samsung non-pro 840 if you plan on going the SSD route, OP.

Samsung is dangling the regular 128gb 840s for under $100, but don't take the bait.

One of these is a far better choice.

HD7850 would be better and not that expensive if you get a ot deal on one and they come with some good games. Smaller, more energy efficient, decent gaming ability comparable or better than gtx570.


Lower costs to save money and prepare for next gen video cards.
 
Seconded on the 7850. Benchmarks of it vs. the 570

Note the power consumption figures. At load the 7850 consumes nearly 200w less.

I currently have a GTX570 and i can attest that it is hot, hungry, and not at all efficient.

Edit: Not Efficient as in not efficient compared to current gen HD7xxx / Kepler stuff

The main issue with reveiws is the reveiwer is useing out of this world specs that the everyday gamer can;t afford and no way in hell am i going play keeping up with the latest platform with Intel's and Nvidia's over the top pricing.

A 7850 or GTX 660 would both be lower-power replacements with similar performance to the 570, although the 660 somewhat faster. I guess it depends if he just wants a direct replacement or somewhat of an upgrade more. Either way he is going to save some power and heat.

Compared to Kepler sure, but it was more power efficient and cooler than the 470 which it replaced.
