cant ping on the outside of the network on ubuntu 14.04lts server

I have been beating my head on this for couple hours now I just reinstalled ubuntu server onto my computer and the issue is I can ping outside of the network if I am using DHCP but when I try to place static IP address it wont ping outside of the network but can ping internal network just fine. My other ubuntu servers on the same network can ping outside the network but this one machine wont.

check your default gateway settings and your routes.

I even tried it with an USB ethernet adapter and it didnt even change anything.

its working now after downloading the interface.conf from my other server and uploaded that file to the server

 

[/dev/null]

Make sure when you statically set the IP, you also set the netmask & gateway.
