I have a current mbp (15" 2.2Ghz 4GB memory, etc) and I lost my system discs. Not a big deal (or so I thought) I'll just pick up a retail copy of Tiger. For whatever reason it won't let me install form that disc. It says my system is not compatible with that version of OS X.

What do I need to do? I've tried putting it in while booted into OS X and double clicking the install now icon, I've tried holding "C" while on bootup and it still won't let me install from teh Retail Disc...any thoughts???

Are the Tiger discs you have Universal Binary? In other words does it suppose Intel chipset? It could be an old retail copy that is PowerPC only.

Tiger was released before the "new" MBP so the new "enabler" is not included on Retail Tiger Disks.

I was just told on another forum (Apple Discussions) that all Retail Copies are PPC only :( that answers it.
