Can't install Java 2 Runtime Environment...plz help!!!

Hey there...I need to install Java 2 Runtime Environment...it won't let me tho...I download the thing and start the installation but it says it's been interupted and didn't finish and nothing has been installed...I have Win XP Pro w/SP1 and I disabled Norton and AdAware and AdWatch but it still doesn't wanna be installed...any other ideas??? THANX

Are you using the web installer or the standalone?

tried both with the same results...gonna try rebooting and then reboothing in safe mode...maybe one of those will work...

If you are SP1 as you say you could use the MSJVM removal tool to remove the MS runtimes (if you're actually SP1a then you don't have the MSJVM). A friend of mine was getting hung up during the install the other day and it went through without a hitch after running the removal tool. Google it or here's a link at Softpedia. If your problem is due to the aborted Sun install though then this tool obviously won't be much use.
